I use Logic 9 - legit and boxed physical CD. Not everytime but sometimes all these problems with crashes with ES2 and Sculpture happen here unfortunately. Maybe Logic 8 is more stable than 9 or maybe the problem is solvable, but don't have any clue what it can be.I don't use many 3rd party plugins, maybe there lies a problem, or some hidden flies from some deleted ones. No idea.

i bought it on the first day. made one track. but for some reason i stick with logic ' for the moment.
the frame window left from the channelstrips is fucking annoying....
retro synth is awsome. very powerfull stuff
and a big Pro for X is . its fast! really fast. anyone knows about the smoking a joint practice while loading a project? hehehe
then. i was annoyed that its not supporting 32 bit anymore. my opinion is. that a top sequencer should have all possibilities to work with stuff logic's developers maybe never heard of and the company may shout down years ago while enjoying there ass in the sun right now and dont even think in doing a 64 bit version. for example sylenth....
for now i dont belive in any convert apps. but maybe this safes the gig!
think make the switch... i tried to use as less sylenth as possible in the last two projects
ah yeah . running on a mac mini server Quad core i7 2012, 16 gb ram. effing power...

Can't wait to load up Logic X but still afraid to lose my 32 bit plugs and also I really don't feel like upgrading my operating system .. But I have one question, can you assign multiple parameters to one knob on the smart controller ?

Yeah - I'm really not happy about the 32-bit thing.
Lots of other stuff looks cool. Used it on my roommate's computer.
The key command changes screw me up, though. cmd+t for tools in arrange window now, instead of esc. I know I can change it, but there are a whole bunch of those.
Also awesome: Ultrabeat routing and sampling randomly improved (presets for sample, kickdrum with just a pitched sine, etc).

I heard they've introduced the "round robin" thing to ESX24, but haven't tried to make use of it during my brief testing of Logic X. I just use it for some simple sampling stuff, since they've introduced the "convert to new sampler instrument" thing and sometimes I just want to pitch something on the go, or apply a pitch envelope to it. Other sampling duties I've been relying on Kontakt these days. ESX looks like an old dusty rack sampler from the 80's by comparison.
What's changed in Ultrabeat? Didn't notice that at all. In 9 there's the single and multi-output as far as routing options go. Has it got something to do with the track stacks?
Retro Synth sounds fine, but was expecting a bit more depth. Packs a lot of synthesis methods in one unit, but doesn't quite deliver in most of them, like FM or wavetable synthesis. For some basic stuff it's cool and it's got the best sounding filters of all the instruments included though.
One of the best new features in there is actually the easily overlooked "smart controls", it actually allows you to control multiple parameters with just one knob, regardless of whether the instruments have such options or not. Kind of reminds me of the "soft knobs" on the Virus, and is somewhat similar to what you can do in Live as well. But that's fun and helps the work flow and sound design.
The new versions of the vintage keyboards gets the job done much better then the previous versions to. It stands it's own even compared to the likes of Native Instruments and others - I mean the physical modelling stuff, not the sample based instruments on Kontakt of course -; but the versatility of them makes up for the slight lost in realism.
What about Flex Pitch? What do you guys (assuming there's people here using it) think about it?
I personally liked the new Bass Amp, actually more so then the one in GTR (waves audio) and Guitar Rig (Native Instruments). Didn't test the new guitar pedals yet, though. Any thoughts on that also?
And the Drummer... Most people (me included) thought this was just a fool's feature. Like "if you can't program your beats, we do it for you" kind of thing. But then you take a look at the Drum Designer and it's just as good as NI's Abbey Road Drum kits, or Toon Track's stuff for realistic sounding drums. Those automatic drummer bots are damn good also, despite their boring names. |

seems like it! would someone care to post a screenshot with the new EQ? I no longer have the other disk with ML and Logic X, since I decided to go for a hackintosh rig and keep this one as is (no need for headaches eheh).
so... someone out there be a good fella and post a picture for us, uh? thanks |

hey frisbee is there no hackintosh version for LOgic X ? I also think about rather update my computer=hackintosh more than update my mac to new standards.
..is there something crucial and important to have in mind before buying a new PC or is it okay to buy anyone (with good/large ram etc)? I have soundcards etc external. I'd buy something as cheap as possible, only the technical data espescially Ram has to have a few GHz's or is this really important not to buy from Dell or something like this? Sorry for a lil offtopic here. I think Logic is a monster now.

update:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc0sAznFYL8
here's a link where folks can see what's new. seems like a nice adition to Logic, and it's great that they don't seem to have settled with the 9 to 10 changes and are willing to keep on improving the software. they'd get a world applause if they'd update the sampler some time soon, and maybe that's in the works. ESX24 is cool and all, specially with the "convert to new sampler instrument" function, gets used a lot (at least I do) but can't possibly compete in the same league with Kontakt and more modern takes on samplers. |

not the right person to ask, since I've been on the mac side for so long now... I ear good things about Asus, know a lot of Cubase people using those for both producing and gigs and read that their mother boards are top notch, even though for hackintosh I've seen Gigabyte being the most recommended - altough that's mainly because of compataibility with Mac OS.
I think it's harder for laptops, to go the hackintosh route. mac book pro is expensive, but it's a good computer and the price isn't all that higher then a similar speced laptop from another company.
on the desktop side, though, mac pro is to expensive! and the imac, well, it's the imac and easily gets worn out (don't mean to offend anyone who just got one, I had 2 XD), so I think that a good hackintosh computer with SSD disk on it and quite possibly UAD card to is about the same price as a regular mac pro XD... how hard can it be? |

@mystical
yeah, going for the i7 4770k with the GA-Z87X-UD3H board. 100% compatible with OSX and pretty powerful setup if you ask me....
growing more and more used to/love afair (?) with Ableton lately... after using mainly Logic for I don't know how long, kind of weird, but liking it... just miss the bounce in place, more flexible routings in mixer, audio editing is nicer in logic, but you see what happens to a wave after you apply a fade like on Cubase and Reaper, while on Logic you don't, or do you in Logic X? don't really remember that... rant over
oh, what about project recovery after crash? one of the things that really annoys any logic user, right? is that better with X? |

hey Frisbee intersting.. I wanna buy some windows laptop too, just need a few month to earn something new hehe .I haven't produced any music for almost a month now. Have recorded lots of sounds with my field recorder in Morocco. Gonna be fun soon. Also found myself pretty much using more Ableton apart of my big love of Renoise (but tbh more for breakbeat oriented music or just soundcolours, samples hardcore manipulations with all the hexcodes Renoise offers)
Still on Snow Leopard. Cheers
