Thre are many tricks DJ can use in order to make their set, not just a mix , but something more. As you've already said here you can use additional audio outputs in the set, but you can also play with the music itself.
I've heard Gabi few times adding theme samples from the certain track, while he was playing his set and after few tracks, the track sample was taken from, made the crowd jumping much more, since they got what they there teased about.

yea i really think DJ sets should be more full and different from just mixing 2 tracks together

There is a DJ here in florida. His name is R-Fresh. I saw him spin once. He used a keyboard sampler, 6 turntables and an fx unit. Let me tell you something. This was the best set I have ever heard. He plays parts of songs but basically does the remix right there, in front of your eyes! So, yes, a DJ+Live Show has been done. By more than just mr fresh im sure. heres a link to his website if you want to check him out.
