in inspiration of "Best Tracks for SET oppening", i have one question. What do you prefer?

In a change from one dj to another, that the dj that is next, mix the track of the last dj, or just do a cheap mix of atmosphere?... i know it depends, but what do you prefer? in my personal opinion y prefer a mix, so the trip can continue. Less show, more party.

if i understand your thread u mean when the DJ's are changing...???
i think its nice to give the DJ some feedback with a FEW SECONDS(no need for more)of silence(claps,woohoo,whatever)....personaly i wouldnt mind at all for the next DJ to mix in to my last track and i can go stright to dance it can be nice to trip your balls off and not to understand what the guy that was just behind the deck is next to u diging his soul away!!!
LESS SHOW,MORE PARTY. back to the old days vibe.
cheers.

I prefer that the DJs change without a break. No clapping, no woohoo, no groupies
The DJ should get his feedback by watching the ppl dancing to his tunes.

The best situation (imho) is a small (3-4 tracks) back-to-back before the next deejay launches his set.. But that means that the guys have a minimum of respect for each others..

Not always the case !           .

IMO the best is a short pause. there are a few reasons:
1. the dj who just finished should be rewarded with some applause for his efforts.
2. ppl shuld know the dj's have changed.
3. if the next dj playes a diffrent style of music a pause is usually better to switch than mixing.
4. too many djs are too eagre to start so if theres no pause they'll start mixing too early. saw it happen too many times and it pissed me off everytime (when its done to me i get really mad - say u put a track with an amazing ending and the dj after u mixes 4 minutes b4 the end - thats annoying and does nothing good for the party)
5. every artist (and djs are artists too in a way) should be given a "blank page" to say what he wants to say.
6. if youre in a club, during the pause they usually turn on the lights - thats the best time to search for your friends, your cigarets, your clothes, your girl/boy friend, your virginity or whatever it is you've lost while digging.

as long as theres no "ladies and gentelmen please welcome...... " speaches - 3 seconds of silence are the best.

Sup my toms, listen i agree with you----less show and more party, but you have to remember that dj´s are also artists and they deserved recognition.

For me the best is to give a small pause in between each dj this gives time for the people to recognize a good or bad work and they will know dj´s have changed.

Giving a pause in between each dj doesent means its a show it just signals a change of style.

Just be the morning DJ (And no I am not talking about bpm 145 here) that end the party then you'll get all the recognition you want That is if the previous DJ's did a good job LOL

I dont like pauses in a party. It breaks the flow on teh dancefloor.

i like a little pause between sets....its like clensing your pallate before sinking your teeth into the next set. plus, what if the next dj likes to play a little faster than his predecessor or something? or what if the last track of the old set and the first track of the new set don't go together at all?...it would sound whack, yo. 3 seconds won't kill the vibe....

In my opinion, is better don´t make breaks, imagine a party with 5 or 6 dj´s or lives, is very boring a pause after each of all.
maybe if somebody make a real killa set, it´s ok make a small pause but i think only in this case.

If a DJ dont know how to pick and mix a 1st track that suit the last track of the previous Dj without the need to use a break then he or she should stop being a DJ

one time i directly mixed into my first track and the dj before me got really pissed off cause he didnt get the attention he needed for his ego after his set. needless to say that dj was spinning vocal house...           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

there should be a pause between sets so the dj gets his due respect           At the end there is a DOOR & waiting for you on the other side of that door is either HEAVEN or HELL

Totally agreed ! This is what distinguishes a deejay from a good deejay... and when both are good and open-minded, well let's back-to-back for a few tracks !

Applauses, what is this ?? Nothing important here...except food for the ego..

You know when u finnish your set if the people have enjoyed your vibration.. No need for applauses.. If you've been careful of the crowd while your performance, you know it.           .

---oh come ON. its hardly as serious as that.
if someone has a special opening or something they should get to drop it. it sets the tone for the rest of their set. not that its NECESSARY to have a silence and then an opening track, just that a killer well-beatmatched set that opens with silence and then an opening track- thats not grounds for calling a DJ BAD or anything or saying they should stop DJ'ing.

its just a taste thing and i can see both sides...
