Finally!
I was hoping those crazy Vikings will get more exposure by releasing their album on Beats'N'Pieces but hey .... self releasing this great album as digital version is better than nothing.

Here is a little review i wrote a while back:
Lauge & Baba Gnohm – Langbortistan
Whilst I had heard of Lauge before, with his superb remix of Imogen Heap’s Hallelujah, the first time I came across Lauge & Baba Gnohm working together was the release of their Monolith EP on Chillbase Records (http://laugebabagnohm.bandcamp.com/album/monolith-ep) in December 2009. In short, I loved it.
Now Lauge & Baba Gnohm return with their first full length as a duo: Langbortistan (which I think means ‘far away country’).
All of the tracks are mid-length, ranging from 8 to 13 minutes. There are plenty of lovely ambient intros leading into somewhat intoxicating melodies, bass and beats.
Things start of slowly and ominously with the title track, Langbortistan, and indeed I feel like I am indeed being shuffled away to a far away country. One where I am relaxed and feel like I have not a care in the world. The second track, Dybet, continues in much the same vein but picks up the tempo a bit.
Now for me, the album really kicks off with H20 (track 3). Here, there is a really nice sunset vibe. Indeed I can easily imagine myself in a beachside bar or café watching the sun sink toward the horizon, chatting with friends, and enjoying these sublime melodies and beats. Reflesksioner (track 4) is next, and introduces a more oscillating bass line. Still ultimately relaxed, but feeling like more is going on in the mix. This track makes me want to get up from my friends and start moving slowly around.
Now that I’m up and moving, Nordlys (track 5) comes along and shifts everything up a notch. This is the highest tempo track on the album, coming in at a somewhat danceable 105 bpm. Things are really moving and the sun is falling below the waterline. Nordlys might refer to the Northern Lights, so whilst the light is falling out of the bottom of the sky, it is also being reborn into the higher reaches in the form of an aurora borealis. (And yes, I’m probably unashamedly stretching the metaphor now…)
Hypnose (track 6) is next. And this, for me, is the track with the strongest beat on the album. Another chill-space dance-floor friendly number to take you away in the bliss of losing yourself in movement and melody. Lovely stuff.
Finally, Rejsen (track 7), appears to slow things down and drop us back to where the album picked us up from. Another strong beat although the tempo has dropped a little. A definite head nodder and smile inducer.
In summary, this album just oozes relaxed sunset vibes with its melodies and relaxed beats. I love sunsets and I love this. It’s been on high rotation at home and in the car (loving it for driving!!). A few of these tracks found their way into my sets last summer and will again this summer. And the album is a favourite on balmy summery evening.
I haven't been to Ibiza, but I imagine this is the sort of stuff I would love to hear in a bar there as the sun sets.
Favourites: I like them all, but: 3, 4, 6 and 7.
I thoroughly recommend picking it up.
