As a DJ, finding tracks that fit a current style I follow, or a current set I am compiling, is not an easy task!

As a hobby DJ, there is not much money in it, and surely money isn't the reason why I DJ.

Therefore, acquiring music can be a complicated, time-consuming, and expensive task. Sure it is a part of the deal, but I like to be spending more time mixing and less time going throughout cds looking for a track to play.

That is why, I see the future of music shopping- on-line, browsing through a well-categorized collection of tracks, all available to listen in matter of seconds, and to buy and download in matter of minutes.

Recently I have discovered that DigitalStructurs has opened an mp3 shop that is cheap, easy to use, and at very high quality.

I would like to thank them for doing so, and to encourage all labels that have the ability, to do so.

To summarize- the option to briefly browse throughout an entire label collection, and select individual tracks, sample them and then buy them at high quality, will save me time, save media cost, save shipping cost, save room in my cd-case as each cd will be customized by me for optimal selection.

And the best thing is to actually know that my purchase went directly into my favorite's labels bank's account, and directly to the artists.

Please have a look at digital structure's mp3 shop, and observe the future.

very high qulity but still mp3. which doesn`t quite cut it. if i`m paying give me top quality that`s what i think.
and if were buying single tracks and not whole cd`s why not make it on wav format?
surley bandwidth and storage space r far less significant than quality, no?           if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

maybe because of the traffic. but thats no real reason...
no, they are still into forcing the costumers buying the CD. a big mistake in my eyes.

I personally think this is a really good idea - a step in the right direction at the very least; an additional, direct means of revenue for artists/labels, easy access for those in countries where mail order is problematic and for consumers who want the option and/or who may not have the money to fork out the £15 for a single CD that some labels charge.

I think if some of the other labels were to follow suit they would find that a lot of people would use the service - I know I would give it a go. Probably not for whole albums as a rule (esp. those I really want) but certainly for odd tracks from compilations or for singles and remixes etc.

Whether .wav or high resolution .mp3, at least it gives consumers the option, and you don't have to spend money on a whole load of music you might not ultimately like while still supporting the artists you want to listen to. Seems reasonably priced too!

They should try using some type of lossless compression - you can get a CD full of music down to about 1/2 of its original size with absolutley no quality loss!

great move.

don't listen to the wav snobs, it's like people who know they like pepsi over coke because it tastes better.

try www.beatport.com

decent psytrance collection and the option of buying in WAV which they send to you. still have to pay shipping but you can avoid purchasing unusable tracks. i personally think this is the best option...hopefully all labels will follow suit and include the possibility of downloading in WAV.

the future is now           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

ever hear of LOSSLESS compression?

downloading wavs is not feasible in this day and age. maybe in 5 years when everyone has a T-3 line and a terabyte hard drive. But especially for people who play off tracktor or final scratch, having a wav library is unrealistic.

Why? I have the space, and the bandwidth. I won't ever buy mp3. Give me waves and I'll fork over the cash. Better yet, I'd love to go to a label and pay them the price of a CD for them to burn an assortment of tracks from their back catalogue to a CD-R and ship it over. No one offers this service. Why?

Then again, if any labels do, let me know
