not really convinced by the drum machine but lets ear more sample first .. didn t like much the hats snare clap in the demo..but maybe it s versatile enought to really craft these . otherwise my vermona can do the all the same in higher quality it seems.

Which Vermona do you have and how much is it?

the drm3 i think it s around 500 euros.. it sound almost more like a analog synth making drums than a drum machine (maybe cause there is a good amount of parameter to go more experimental )..some don't like this.. but it s phat and modern kinda fresh compared to some roland box.. but mix of both is offcourse better

there is probably zero processing in that sample ,it sound like right out of the box

really fun to jam seqeunced into maschine via midi and playing live with the drm knobs, and mashine mute solo patterns ect...all sounds triggered by their own pads...still ahaven t experimented much but there is big potential..a desk would be welcome to use individual outputs live

damn his doepfer stuff sound good ! tunes are weird but sound is good..

the other loop i made the other day in the xdream stuff, was all vermona even the bassline..

here a loop , but was trying to make it sound gritty..it have 15 db of analog compression there is still some depth ...but it s squashed ..

now i find the way... 909 use 12 bit samples, it need to be bit reduced and saturated for a more oldschool techno sound otherwise it s lush

something i fin quite intresting is to make the music the gears /tools dictate you to make... back in the days you had no other choice than making music with the limited stuff you had.. so gears had a big part on the final result imo..
if i use just my vermona my xs and i would need a 303.. the music would be really unic..in term of sound production and artistically..it would be the music possible to make with these tools..and only these tools would lead me to that sound and result..

These things look way fun to play with, but I dont see me putting them to much use in studio work. From what Ive heard from demos, the drum machine sounds arent quite what i usually like to use, Id like to play around with one and find out for sure.

The bass looks fun, I guess the 3 oscs can be sequenced individually? I think I heard that on one of the Musikmesse videos. I like how it sounds, it doesnt try to be a 303 too hard even if it does sorta look like one. I like the sounds I heard from the videos, the filter sounds pretty nice even if it is only -12db and the 3 oscs seem to add depth.           .

I think I'll grab these and like many said, they'll be fun "toys" to play with but not really for making tracks. It could be fun to do little live show programmig them on the fly lol.

These would also be fine I think to give to my kid when he's a bit older to get him keen on synthesizing etc. at those price if they get damaged it's not end of the world.           Cuntus Maximus.

Dunno about that, the Beats spits some serious drum sounds. If the signal to noise ration is good, I could sure use them sounds in tracks.

for drums you could also use almost any analog that have noise source and resonant filter to make them if you dont need sequeuncer, i know my Xs can pull out drum that sound really good and totally usable ,that the first reason why i bought it in fact.

also mashine have lot of great sample..stuff from modulars ect.. kind of replace the need of a drum machine imo, me i just got a DM for some projects.. it s sure fun to use.. but i would totally fine with machine for making music.. maybe make a few kits with what yo have to use into maschine would save you some bucks.

except a few drum machine the best analog drums quality come from analog synths imo specially modular

Korg Volca series - Direct sound recordings!

beats:
"Korg Volca Beats - Sound impression recorded directly from the output. I don't know if this is only with THIS model at Messe but the volume was really low. In the video the volume was raised by 6.4dB, no other mastering or FX took place."
http://youtu.be/XgJPlxouCYo

bass:
"Korg Volca Bass (protoype) - recorded directly from the input. I took the liberty to raise the recorded volume by +4db, no other mastering or FX took place."
http://youtu.be/I0nMixhr_ag

keys:
"Sound impression of the Korg Volca Keys. Recorded directly from the Volca Input. Not mastered or FXed."

got my hands on all 3 of 'em today! my thoughts after a quick test. in short it's like the demos tell you already:
beats really rocks price/value wise. and it didn't have that new korg trademark noise. really fun and easy to play with and excellent for techno. you also get that phaaat boom bass kick
bass was ok. but if you have already some sort of decent synth you wont be needing it.
keys was the weakest link. very limited possibilities:
you can't change f.e. the vcos waveform. there are 5 or 6 preset modes which determin the waveform and how many vcos are being used. also the delay's feedback wont self oscillate turned fully on but fades out after a few seconds :/ also the noisiest one of the 3.
i didn't have the chance to sync 'em so i can't say antyhing about that.

Which is why I just added the entire TipTop Audio drum range to the 9u system I'm building. I tested everything from Maschine to Volca to Elktron Machine drum and the 999 drum machine but the TipTop ones sound so good and especially with the new Audio Damage modules some fantastic weirdness going on.

Currently have laid out $2K on the system, spending double that including a Doepfer low cost case. The I shall disappear down the modular rabbit hole for a long time.

The only gear I could possibly be interested in the future would be a desktop version of the DSI Prophet 12, but they usually take a year or two to put out desktop versions.           Cuntus Maximus.
