You know what the problem is lads, To MUCH Killer this & killer that !! No GROOVE these days ( Well not a lot compared to all the KILLER stuff out there )

after having listenned for 13 years to the best and the worst in this scene, the way to know waht a killer track is is very simple.
some tracks suit u but not another guy.
some track are beautiful but not groocy, other groovy but miss something, other good for certain priod of time or specific state of mind etc..etc...
but in the end there are a few tracks, very few tracks that have the ability to make people dance to trance, most of all peoples that do no know anything about this scene, thoses are the killer tracks. goa is an electronic mental dance music style, and some tracks are able to make peoples dance immidiatly till the end, without any kind of wasted time in the structure of the track. tracks that directly get into the brains of peoples and make them moove and wanting to dance, peoples from the trance scene but most of all out of it...those are the killer tracks. for example funk fluid from beat bizarre on their first album. or children of the last generation from xdream {1992}.
those tracks make people immediatly dance even those wwho never listen to goa trance...only those with preconceived ideas against tekmusic resist to them....but those people just cant stay in the space where those tracks are played ..they just leave cause the psychedelism present in those tracks fear them too much,,,remind them of what they are ! |

a killer track has to make everyone dance and also trans port your mind to the limits of universe, make your soul being a shining star again between the sky stars...relisten to COSMA.or life on mars from astral !..for example |

Ajna you seem to be writing these lines in a caustic way.. "What they are" ? And then ? Just let them be what they are, indeed.. They might not "understand" or simply not like psychedelism but that doesn't mean they don't like good music.. Because hopefully Psychedelic Trance or your so beloved Goa Trance aren't the only interesting stylez..

A killer track for me has the power of abstracting, meditating, feet propelling, body shaking as if an orgasmic wave of sound not only shakes your mind and cleans it from all crappy thoughts, but it rockets your body into a full stomp. It has some complexity, layering and great motivs, bending sound and creating a cinematografic experience with depth and clarity. Sounds talk to each other. Sometimes i like simple captivating tracks, sometime i like a mayhems of sound.
It all boils down to a feeling and when a track has that feeling you know you have found a Killah |
