i happily inform the world that the word and the concept of KiLLER is dead.

it was found mangled and bloody in its own bathroom with its pants down-
rumor has it some stupid kid playing World of Warcraft blasted KiLLER with a full clip...

Serious art- which never stooped to such bullshit- but never created anything either- was quick to comment that it was only a matter of time before the KiLLER was KILLED... seeing as how it lived a violent lifestyle...

It is survived by its family- Mother Groovy, Father Cool, and Uncle Neato. among others... No known children...

--------------

ok seriously now i know there are many generations of trancers here but this KILLER concept has gone too far-

the mentality that only allows for "whiz bang wow special effects" is killing our cultures and our planet and ultimately ourselves.

shortcutting years of hard work and dedication with this word "killer" will not suffice. a person needs to get their hands dirty and do the work of life- not just sit there and make KneeJerk reactions as the KILLER mind wants us to...

many artists and thoughtful people have simply moved on from our scene.
why? because the mentality has gone away from intelligence and into KILLER...

fuck hollywood, fuck video games, fuck amplifiying more of the bad vibes in life.
its time to create the positive change we want to see in the world.
this is individual- however, when i first came to the trance scene- it was with the promise of others who shared my vision of a new world.

i never thought the day would come when trance heads would bow to the ugly idol of violence...
on the other hand
i never thought the day would come when trance tried to be "normal" and mainstream in its sensibilities.
i can see the frustrating dichotomy present but we do not go deeper underground by endorsing the cheap view of life espoused by the concept of KILLER...

The term "killer" used in the Promotional section is very useful while picking up stuff to buy. I don't want any records who are like Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Saddam or Jack the Ripper on my shelf.

On the more serious note, some wise words here, mr Ocelot.

Wrong, it turned into much more than just an expression. "Killer" pretty much defines todays scene – whether it’s a "killer" full on bassline, a "killer" phat electro-groove, "killer" insane dark psy effects, "killer" breaks or "killer" morning melodies, it’s all about making those "killer" dancefloor tunes.

I don’t like to call some music more "intelligent" than something else, but I do believe the whole "killer" concept clearly outbalanced some of the deep, introspective and trance-inducing aspects of the music we love. But of course there are exceptions.

Oh well, maybe I went a bit offtopic there. And it's of course only my opinion           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

KILLER is DEAD!!!

... Long live KILLER!!

Actually Mr. Ocelot, your music can be described as killer, as whatever sanity I had left died while listening to "Turn It Up" I don't regret anything, such a great track

Anyhow, the Jungle scene uses the term "Wicked" a lot, but you don't see the thought police bugging them about their evil and mysterious ways now do you?

If it bothers you so much, how about the term "Limp Wristed"?

Never underestimate the power of words.
They control far more aspects in our life than we are willing to admit.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I don't use the word Killa for a long time.
it's mainly a word with which I communicate with DJ's from abroad

I use "Blasta" or kickass, or mahbesa (Laundromat)... sometimes... but BLASTA is da word!!!

Out here it is applied to much more than just music... "killer party dude!" It gets a bit tiring, but that is the nature of slang - focus too much on it and you'll get sick of it.
