hell yes!!! ....
the second album by Aldo aka Kemic-Al is for sure on of those stands out in the big jungle
of releases nowadays. if you hold the disc in your hand and open the booklet it seems to
have a real storyboard, a movielike trip in 14 acts, and exactely it is.
as I missed the originality in his first album, here he convinces all along with a disc you
feel the effort he put into it. if you're just a little bit interested in the mythology of
Vlad Tepes Dracula or touched by it's general mystic inclination, you should urgently take
the time to listen to this in it's whole. aldo hijacks you to a wild ride into the mystic,
dark world of the carpathian mountains of romania in the middle ages and tells the story of
this myth of the twilight.
in the booklet he contributes the storyboard to each track, and i remind the times as I use
to listen to music with lyrics, sitting on the floor reading what the shouter tells me. and
with this epic start he catched my right from beginning and I was delighted after this trip
he took me with.
productionwise aldo developed, nothing else expected for sure, and as the whole disc does not
freak out or needs any hymnal elements trying to make a hit stands out in the whole sophisticated
way the story is told, it's like a rollercoaster of emotions makes the story credible aldo is telling.
if you know the tale of Dracula, you know it's also a lovestory and so you can expect the whole
range of emotional feelings from hate to love as well despair, frustration and and ultimate rage.
basslines are no dominant part in this album, more the atmospheric touch is spreaded shall
do it's job with all the little details in the tracks makes it a delight to listen to it again
and again, just to discover new little treasury, like with your favorite movie you can watch
over and over again and find news each time. for sure its a dark album, what else if its all
about the mystic tale of Dracula, but as mentioned before no freaked out madness of 8 minutes,
no it's a whole story, with some dull moments sure, and again as it's like in a movie, everybody has these parts he does not like, but here you don't skip the track, cause it belongs to the rest.
you will easily wait for the next thrilling moment to come and that what makes this album special
in my opinion. i know it will not be that easy accessible for some, those are maybe just not
patient enough to get into it and listen what aldo is trying to illustrate.
in my opinion for sure something special and I did not seen before anything like this. the understatement of the bass and kick in it's whole maybe the only thing I have to complain with. sometimes a bit more power wouldn't hurt at all. but thats just my bloody opinion.
I recommend to everybody is open enough to taste it in it's whole and no doubt it will be a delight.
even the artwork fits very good to the atmosphere this one spreads, and again this is maybe my affinity to such art as well. but I felt to mention that aldo did this also on his own, as the whole product is done by him what deserves big respect. well done aldo.

this is one of the best things out there...
i love the bass, love the mystical ambience, love every second on it!!!
Not too dark (in a bad way) something i give total value! Very original and creative!
Aldo really know how make what he make, i think most dark artists need listen it and think what they are doing... heheheh

One word defines "The Dark Journal" Brilliant! Aldo you earnd a place of your own in Psykadelic music with an unmistacable sonic style and original composing. "Telling a psicadelic story" thru musical arrangement only gained a meaning with the release of "The Dark Journal" castels build with low mid frequencies, basselines being horseman charging in the battlefield, dark forests and misty valeys painted with moving pads and fx building up momentums with heavy doses of energy warping the crowd to the Realm of Vlad.

OK lets say it's right at the END of the album and you have to use a little imagination and some tricks applied too
