However, it is an indisputable fact that the world we live in today is changing at a rate that is unprecedented in our recorded human history. but we do live in a transformational time. Society and humanity are increasingly more intrinsically connected via technology than in any time ever - we share and accumulate and spread knowledge quicker, technology's progress is speeding up

and whether or not you assign any special significance to it, we are living in a time where the processional Age is changing from Pisces to Aquarias - and each Age is 2160 years long. Not many people get to experience that in their lifetime (well, some people say that the Age won't change until 2100 or so....)- but many many cultures assign significance to this change and revere the procession.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the procession of the equinox, but I find it completely fascinating that the ancients were even able to discover the pattern at all. Did you know that the procession is so slow that there is only 1 degree of change in the placement of the stars every 72 years or something? How the fuck do the mayans (or more accuratley the Olmecs - as the Mayan calendar is taken from the Olmecs..and who knows where *they* got it from) track and discover this lengthy process and devise the Long Count calendar from it???? Processional numbers are found in many religion's sacred texts - it is the longest calendar that humanity has, and it has been revered for at least the past 8,000 years or so, probably longer than that.

There are lots of theories regarding catalysts, apocalypses, waves of energy radiating from the super black hole in the middle of the galaxy that enhances evolution every so often, worldwide spiritual awakening...

For me, I think its just interesting and I look forward to december 12th 2012...although I admit the thing I am most looking forward to is nothing happening so that I can neener-neener all over my super new age hippy friends who think that the Golden Age is about to begin.
