As Israliens 3 didn’t let me a big impress, after only the first listen i gave this new one, i find it quickly much better.

A big buzz has been made around Teder Beseder from Sub6 (which last track Indian Jackpot didn’t amazed me at all) & Pixel, so i was quite puzlled to hear it.
The very first rythmic sounds just before the ragga-dub intro reminds me the brainblasting E-T=Art from Shiva-Psysex, an impress confirmed after the intro with the global rythmic & the bassline. At 5:00, the break comes and this voice (highly twisted) … arrives and remains upto the end, unexpected but really nice effect on the track!

Day Dream got the Astraix’s mark, in the beginning tones are sharper. At 2:40, things evolves in a pumpier way, a bit of scattered autotuned voice & around 5:00 the cosmic melodic break. Indeed Daydream is a compromise between for example Massive Activity & Eye To Eye, Astrix’s fans should appreciate it.

Seeing Cosma in a tracklist means in my head, some hybrid stuff between psychedelic & progressive, but this time it's not that at all, Mixed Up is a very good full on production, with something special more : this emotionnal Cosma touch all along the tune.

Puzzle is rising fast from the start & keep a fast tempo, add a hint of mystery & madness, and the hypnotic gimmick « we have to see , we have to know » definitively catch your brain, now it’s too late you can’t escape PsySex ‘s puzlle, fearsomely effective.

Second very talkabout tune Marley On Acid from Xerox & Illumination, good perhaps overrated overall, i think the track lack of a very little something in his climax, probably some more personnality. Nevertheless Marley On Acid remains largely better than most of the Frequency Drive album’s tracks.

Hujaboy – 27 AM, more listenable & interesting due to the mixing of the cold dark minimal universe of hujaboy with some full on tastes (boisterous & metallic tones) and some soft percussions which brings a ray of light. A real effort puts on, Hujaboy is in progress.

First remix of the compilation, argh what a remix !
Psy Craft show us here, how to deliver from a hit another master smashing remix, all in propulsing us into an hidden side of the track, quite far from the original harmonies, the big highlight of the cd. If only all remix could be as good s this one…

A remix follows another whithout the same succes. I must say that this time Electro Panic wasn’t unforgettable so it doesn’t help for remixing it. Eat Static brings some weirdness but not enough to save the track which remains too boring with the omnipresent gimmick « electro panic ».

Hopefully it’s mentionned that’s a trance mix, otherwise i won’t know how to call « this », i’m kidding.
Seriously, i’m wondering how could sounds the other versions of Cellophane from Violet Vision as the Trance one is … heu … speacial.
I try a little description, opening on an oriental woman then moves on kinda trance-electro with some bleeps. The singer arrives (a woman) with distorted voice. Time for a real 80’s electro revival break , the singer who has disappear, comes back with the trance-electro tones. The bleeps get more present. The oriental sample of the star re-appears announcing distorted electric guitar riffs coppled with an hammering extremly sharp synth which end ups like this, a cut very rough.

Highlight by order :7,3,4.
Other Nice stuffs by order :6,5,1,2.

This new edition (4th) of Israliens regolden this compilation serie which was weaken with
the third one.

The fourth in the Isralien series, a series that started a different sound, and peaked with the excellent Israliens 2, that brought just what the name suggested, Israeli trance tunes with a twist. Even Israliens 3, while not going much into alien soundscapes, still brought something different with diverse sounds and styles. Is this one continuing the series? At some moments it does, in most not really. It is, however, an excellent full on compilation and could easily be a very deserving another sequel in this Hommega series. Some very good moments worth mentioning are found in PsySex's Puzzle, Sub6 & Pixel's Teder Beseder (frequency is alright in Hebrew), and most of all the amazing Mixed Up by Cosma that shows how can full on music can be made full of feel and not full of formulated cliches.

Bottom Line: Good compilation, good tracks mostly, some killer ones as well. Not really an Israliens compilation, more of a full on one. Favorites: 1, 3(!!), 4(!), 6, 8.

It’s been sometime since I reviewed an album but this one is worthy cause. Hommega, the leading Israeli PsyTrance Label released yet another gem in it’s Israliens series. And it kicks off with one of the most original tracks from the recent time, which is off course Teder Beseder by Sub 6 & Pixel. Typical Pixel track buildup that ends with marvelous vocoded singing. The Dub touches add really deep and groovy feeling to the track. Next up is Astrix with Delirious that bring us yet another morning friendly tune, and it rocks. Astrix knows his work and goes with his formula to the end with a great tune. 3rd track is by Cosma whose passing away will definitely be felt, especially after you hear the track he contributed for this compilation. Mixed Up is a pumping moving Full on track that you won’t be able to ignore its groove wherever your ear catches it. Next one is pretty weak number from Psysex especially after their great string of released tracks. But it might grow on me later… Xerox & Illumination - Marley on Acid comes after and it shows nice groove but nothing special really. Hujaboy presents us 27AM and rescues the compilation from complete boredom. This is quite different from the regular Hujaboy repertoire much brighter in some way and absolutely marvelous percussion work. Funky and Mellow tune. With really great production, and great ending. Psycraft are taking the job of remixing Psysex’s Amphetamaniac that comes next and it sounds different indeed. Nice remix but as always I feel about Psycraft’s music it could be much better. About the track that comes after I won’t write because I think I already did several times before in the 12 compilations reviews that had this track before. Violet Vision is presenting us their Trance remix of Cellophane and it kicks of very very promising. Sounds like Simon Posford decided to give a hand there and to remix the tune. But to make a track that sounds like Simon Posford it takes much more than those chopped up vocal patterns and bigger than life stabs it should include also wise build up and twisted melody that forgotten in this tune and replaced by quite ridiculous melody that shows at 2:40 and destroys all the atmosphere that was build. And in fact it’s so bad melody and repeated so much more than needed that it even makes me easy to ignore the vocals.
The salvation comes toward the end of the tune when a very nice cut up melody and wonderful sound FX that save the track. I think that wiser edit could do this tune wonders. All in all this is a worthy compilation, if you’re into the familiar Israeli sound with some pleasant surprises. Favorites: 1!!, 2!, 3, 6.
8/10

Definatly a nice compilation.

"Teder Beseder" is an awesome track - like the rest of the tracks Sub 6 have been involved in. I can't wait to hear more from these guys.

The tracks with Astrix/Delerious, Cosma, and the Psycraft remix of "Amphetamaniac" are also gems in my book.

I don't like the Eat Static remix of "Electro Panic" ... well, it's no surprise, as I didn't like the original either. And the track by Hujaboy is a bit disappointing- It's more full on than the rest of his tracks, and it doesn't work that well for me.

But overall a nice compilation with some great tracks to keep.
