Anyone who follows Ishq on facebook - http://www.facebook.com/ishqqhsi - may have noticed yesterday that there is a new Ishq album being released - currently for pre-order - by a label called ...txt recordings.

It is limited to 100 numbered cd's (most likely cdr's) - with no digital option it would seem.

The label website is here: http://www.txtrecordings.co.uk/index.html

I ordered it. Hopefully it's good, which is to say, I'm sure it will be, like all other Ishq albums.

------

*edit* Whilst I was writing this I just got an email saying it's already sold out.

Yep! They went fast. And they are definitely CD-Rs. Glad I got my copy.

Here's a preview:

From Ishq's newsletter:

' Lyght ' is an 11 track album of spontaneous and flowing contemporary ambient pieces which highlight some of Ishqs more minimal and upto date studio works.

The album was mixed and mastered for full frequency stereo speakers and the emphasis with this work was to bring harmonic form into the listeners room or space .

' Lyght ' of course works well on headphones but this work in particular was written to fill a room with vibrational tone and form and mixed with that in mind.

The album is in essence all about Light and its many shades from black to white and through to clear .

Deep still and other worldly are all words that can be used to describe elements of the music.

The album is available now as a preorder from txt recordings as a limited edition ( 100 copies ) cdr release with 4 page booklet and jewelcase with photography and artwork
by matt taken in and around cornwall.

Good to hear it's for speakers rather than headphones!

I wish I had known sooner. Would love to have this on CD           words People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey... stuff.

bought the flacs..ends up on ipod anyway so no need for cdr.. am enjoying this more than some other works... no idea why..ishq's music is what it is and if go with the flow you get a good dose of sonic medication..also quite like the binary rain on 'Scielienta'

A question regarding the bandcamp lossless formats maybe someone can cast some 'lyght' onto.

http://virtual1.bandcamp.com/album/lyght

when one chooses format to download Lyght the lossless options are:-

FLAC zip file is 561MB
ALAC zip file is 258MB

so ALAC seems way advanced in terms of compression, is it because the source audio lends itself to more efficient compression, from reading a few forums the sizes should be roughly the same but in this case ALAC is 50% the FLAC size.

The FLAC files plays at 1075kbs 48khz

ok DL the ALAC to compare. These FLAC's are encoded 24bit per sample while ALAC are 16bit. What this also means is that FLAC is better resolution than CD which is 16bit and can be converted to any other format.

it all depends on whether matt uploaded the album at 24bit in the first place. if he uploaded 16 bit then there would be no difference. the larger file size suggests he did.

if you use itunes then i would buy ALAC which is apples' lossless compression, i think.. Itunes doesn;t play FLAC natively (although i think there might be some plug-ins to aid this though). if you don;t use itunes and are playing music on massively impressive and expensive speakers then go for FLAC.

nice to see someone full of the xmas spirit!

i thought your tracks on soundcloud had a more "heroin" vibe.

i am sure matt would be happy to refund you the cost of your purchase, if you asked him.
