I rememeber seing a trance band in switzerland, they did an opening at the magic of uleyses party in april 2003... were brilliant, cant remember the name!!

Nathan - that Atmosfire cd sounds pretty nice - would be nice to catch them live.
Raoul V - maybe they were Tratosphere, they released a new album a few months back called 'Bizar Bazar' which is absolutely divine, sounds a bit like Ott crossed with Ozric Tentacles - who is another band that play live psychedelic music with live drums and guitars etc; but I suppose it's not quite trance in the normal sense. Damn good though

i saw him once playing and he was simultaniously playing several instruments (didge and some percussion + efx, me thinks). first it was great but after 15 minutes i'd heard the whole repertoire.

no .. making psytrance music entirely on the fly is impossible .. itl take a machine to do that ,, in live sets theres always going to be some pre programmed and premade stuff being played along with a few `live` effects and loops , pads etc ..
no way it can be live .. completely .. imo

I agree with you. There are too much sounds in it that you cant make live. BTW i dont think that anyone makes something really live, rock bands do rehersals and train before they play live. So are other genres players. Since trance is mostly computer\synth music, its really hard to make it live. Plus it has much more sounds than one bass guitar, a singer, drums, another guitar.

Live trance exists in many many many live-forms.
Live psychedelic trance on the otherhand doesn't.
It took me 20 minutes to come up with this signature.

there definately are artists who do more than some others at a "live" show. i think its very possible to do a fully live show, but you if you recreate the whole track sequence live, im not sure people will like a 15 minute live improvisation of one track  i know i would, to be taken on a new trip each performance..
if you play instruments and put them in tracks ie bongo congo djembe didge you could also improvise or jam along.
anything is possible |
