INgrooves proudly presents the long awaited Psytrance Section at Beaport.com
Launch date: 16 of February 2006

Beatport is the first authentic digital music store designed to service the evolution of the digital music culture, redefining how DJ's and enthusiasts acquire their music. Beatport.com allows users to access the world of club music through secure, legal, hi-speed, high quality downloads in MP3, MP4 and WAV formats on a pay per download basis. With hundreds of labels and thousands of users world wide, Beatport is recognized as the leader in online digital dance music.

This is a great leap for the psytrance genre. We all know how hard piracy hit labels and artists these past years. We believe that having the tunes now available for sale, in all these different digital formats, will make life easier to a lot of people. If you have a gig next weekend all you have to do is to sit down in front of the computer and download waves of your favorite new releases. How cool is that??

From the artist’s perspective, There is finally a destination to sell and promote tracks online worldwide. They don’t have to solely rely upon physical releases and gigs. They can now get paid what they deserve for endless hours in front of the computer. Happy endings for everybody…..

List of labels that already jumped in with INgrooves:

3D Vision
Alchemy Records
Auraquake
Astral Projection
BNE/YOYO Records
Boom Records
CandyFlip Records
Ceiba Records
Digital Structures
Flow Records
Geomagnetic
Holophonic Records
HOMmega Productions
Iboga Records
Kagdila Records
Neurobiotic Records
Phantasm Records
Spun Records
Solstice Records
Synergetic Records

As the A & R Rep at INgrooves, I am making sure that all of the biggest and best psy trance labels are being given the opportunity to work with us and make this new beatport page really kick ass. What other
digital distribution company has the 2 top psy trance Dj's in America pushing this music to beatport, itunes and over 100 other shops world wide? Ricardo Cassettari and I are working hard to bring this music to the
digital music market. Please help us spread the word and make this a huge success.

While I am fully supportive of a digital revolution, these big, bold, and badass claims spurn me to take a closer look.

Now, I'm only looking at the idea of purchasing wave files. Buying MP3s seems ludicruous to me, but others might be up for it, I don't know. About the waves... I'm looking at beatport's setup right now and it seems that you can't actually download wave files at all. Is this going to change in February?

The pricing seems prohibative to me. Wave files are $2.50 U.S. each right now, and you can't even download them - they need to be sent to you on CD by Fed Ex (an additional charge). If you do the math comparing a standard 9 track commercially released CD with cover art ($11USD) vs a 9 track custom-made CD probably with no art at all ($22.50USD) and factor in shipping costs it simply isn't competative.

Beatport would have a winning combo if they offered a standard $10 flat rate for filling a custom CD, or simply allow wave downloads.

Still, I wish you the best of luck... I'll be first in line to buy some waves whenever it becomes practical and cost-effective to do so... if you have any information about changes being made to the actual functionality of beatport they would be welcomed I am sure.

Peace.

Man Basilisk, you get cheap CDs (11$ us) ?? i've never seen any prices that low in my life.. however, i do agree that buying WAV files is alot more interesting and it should be taken into consideration.

Basilisk,

The launch is feb 16th and you'll be able to buy wave there yes!!

Since we work with beaport directly, we came up with the idea of setting up the section because we do believe in this music. I'm also a psytrance DJ and I'll make sure wave files will be available for sale.

Best Regards,

Ricardo

Beatport does have downloadable .wav files for everything in their system. They made the upgrade in December. They end up costing $1 more than the mp3/mp4 downloads.

I can't speak from the collector's standpoint, but as a DJ, I've been buying and playing the 320kbps mp3 files from beatport for well over a year and have had zero problems or quality issues. I know that this service is being used by professional DJs playing these files out on huge systems on a weekly basis, so it seems to do the trick.

Hmm, I think these guys need to update their FAQ that's where I'm getting this information. Thanks for the update.

clown, that's bad math on my part... it's more like 14 or whatever, over at saiko (I was converting back from 16 CAD which is what I often pay for a CD there). Hmm, so... 3USD for a wave file. I suppose that's good for those really aggravating compilations with one gem and a lot of dross

One of the cool things is that you can listen and just buy the tracks you want....No more fillers....

i checked the site and i can't seem to find any WAV files anywhere.. i hope the site is rebuilt as well.. its really hard to search for things even using the search.. type in "boshke" and you get nothing.. type in "midi miliz" and you get nothing, but type in "chronika" and you get both releases.. its fucked and should be tagged better.. it would help refine people's search's..

thanks for taking this into consideration !!

It's an option at check-out. They just added it into the current functionality of the site (which didn't offer .wav's before December), so it's not so obvious while browsing. Not that it matters anyways.

Yeah, the flash interface and searching sort of blows sometimes. But I've only had minor problems and it seems to work well enough once you get used to it. Well enough for me to blow way too much money there, at least. I have no problems with it now - aside from the fact that I hate fucking flash, but that's a personal thing.

And I don't get any results when I search for "chronika" either - maybe they are updating the system (the big launch was advertised for Feb. 16) and they don't actually have anything from Boshke or Midi Miliz available yet.

Clown, basilisk and Krelm.

Thanks for the feedback. It's really important to us...Those labels above are the ones we work with. We're in the process of signing more labels and artists....We hope Boshke or Midi Miliz will sign with us, but it's up to them really....INgrooves is a distribution company and we work with beaport and 100 other stores like iTunes, Napster and etc....
Psytrance doesn't get much attention specially in the sates, but we're changing that....

Pls more Suggestions!!!

Best,

Ricardo
