Infected Mushroom – Cities Of The Future EP(Yoyo)

1. Radio edit
2. Original mix
3. Violet Vision remix
4. Cream

It’s a teaser of the forthcoming album IM The Supervizor except Cream which is a bonus track unreleased , the Violet Vision remix is also inedit & non-appearing on this album.

So Cities of the future is for me kinda megamix between 2 previous IM’s tracks Deeply : Disturbed & their remix of Statik Dancing, i mean :there are some electric guitar riffs, Duvdev is singing with vocoder or robotized fx on his voice.
But that’s not all, you add an E.B.M touch part & of course some recognizable IM’s fx, you mix all the ingredients & you obtain Cities Of The Future.
I would categorize the result as effective production but easy stuff but without doubt a mainstream aim ‘as the song rest easily in my head) btw this EP is announced as electronica & not trance by the label, like were otherwise the Deeply disturbed & Birthday Eps.

I don’t dig at all The Violet Vision work, in their usual breakbeat background, it doesn’t fit with the original spirit of the track for me.

Cream is a more normal psytrancey IM’s stuff, maybe some people would be interested by this EP only for this one, kinda of little come back to their more nervous & boisterous period.

7/10

at first I didnt like COTF, but after some listening I actually caught myself singing the lyrics and now I think its quite a good track... not the best though.

But the best song is the VV mix, my absolute favourite..... just beautiful.

here is a little sample.....

YOYO RECORDS - INFECTED MUSHROOM - CITIES OF THE FUTURE - CD SINGLE

Track list:
1. Cities Of The Future (radio edit)
2. Cities Of The Future (album vers.)
3. Cities Of The Future (violet vision rmx)
4. Cream

Released: July 2004

INFECTED MUSHROOM - returns with a CD single teaser from their upcoming electronic release album, to be released later on this year.
The CD consists of 3 versions to "Cities of the future", radio edit, original, Violet vision RMX & an extra bonus track called "Cream".
Cities of the Future is another well produced track by the sound masters and is a straight continuance to their more freestyle releases we received in the past year or so. Unlike their predecessors, though, this track lacks in creativity and is a bit too much of a fusion of the duo's recent releases "Deeply disturbed" & Duvdev's own "Now is the Time", but unfortunately lacks the magic these predecessors incorporated.
On the other hand the RMX accomplished by Violet Vision is just an amazing work of art, polishing down the screaming vocals and inserting just the needed groove, this remix can fit with the commercial electronic stage eloquently, where the first versions fall between the gaps in.
Cream AKA "The Bonus track" is exactly what one should expect from this fine duo, another Epic track by Infected Mushroom, known for their full bodied stories, a track that would take you down stream & than right up again, another IM beauty.
I really like the evolution Infected Mushroom has been taking throughout their career and await their new release with anticipation, one poorly executed track means nothing...

Favorites: 3,4!!

Release information:
"Cities Of The Future" is the first single taken from the long awaited fifth Infected Mushroom studio album titled "IM The Supervisor", scheduled for release in September 2004, a year and a half since their masterpiece album "Converting Vegetarians". This single shows once again why Infected Mushroom is one of the most sought after production teams. "Cities Of The Future" expands the current boundaries of electronic music, showcasing a unique mixture of psytrance grooves with rock elements, topped off by haunting vocals with an industrial flavor. The single opens with the Radio Edit, followed by the original Album Version. The third track is a remix from Violet Vision, “the Israeli prodigy”, which proves once again why VV is considered to be one of the up-and-coming forces on the breaks scene.
A funky electro clash mix, which will suit any and every dancefloor, this will blow you away !
Last but not least, the four-track single closes with a real gem for the fans out there.
"Cream" is one of the most in-demand Infected Mushroom tracks of the last year. Infected’s fans are dying to get their hands on this one.
A monster...
"Cities Of The Future" is a quantum leap in Infected Mushroom's ongoing success story. Watch out - the infection is spreading...

My personal oppinion is that the new track is horrible, and putting a radio edit as first track is kinda sellout going in a commercial direction.. But this is just _MY_ personal oppinion.

I think you should be a real Infected Mushroom fan to really love this release, the new vocal stuff is very cheesy. I like the fact it's released as electronica and not as trance..

I haven’t heard the whole release, but I’ve heard the track ”Cities Of The Future” a few times already; Twice in Infected Mushrooms livesets, and also in a couple of DJ-sets – and I think it's pretty horrible, just like all the other tracks where Duvdev sings.

That being said, I still respect that they don’t let the boring full on formulas influence their work, and they manage to make something unique.          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

I heard the title track a few times on the BNE website and I still wonder if this is the same artist that composed the utterly briljant 'the Gathering' album. Its not necessarily the track itselfs that bothers me but the samples, synths and voices that IM nowadays use.

It sounds all so plastic and play-it-safe compared to the bombastic, complex neo-classical style of before. Of course, artistic freedom blabla and progression blabla...but musically challenging or interesting IM ain't any more in my ears.

i think this ep worht the money, COTF original mix is just good, the vv rmx is groovy and catchy with some nice twisted sounds and a great bassline, and cream for me is one beatiful track kinda old infected but in a new way with a really uplifting melodies.
