remark: when you fly there, customs will ask you a LOT of questions... be honoust, don't try to lie, they will know

i was asked the same questions so many times i would have fucked up and ended up spending even more time with the customs (now they questioned me for about 8 hours in total, to enter and leave the country). they even called people i knew in tel aviv to verify my story.

make ABSOLUTELY sure you have nothing with you that is not in rule with airport safety regulations.

the reason they asked me so many questions? god knows... i'm european, i'm not jewish, and was going there for fun during a period of "war" ... they asked me several times if i had a deathwish or something to go there...

I had a great time there, so will you

LOL.

Anyway, as lots of ppl said before - it is really safe here. Very safe to go alone in the streets at night (most places, of course), very safe to walk around, hitchhike and travel in general.

Cities to visit? Zefad (Tzfat), Acre (Acco), Jerusalem - if you want to sight see. Tel Aviv for night life, shopping... Haifa for the beaches (summer time...)
Places to visit? The Dead Sea, The desert, The Ramon Crator.
People to see? Forum freaky ppl!!!

Let us know when you are coming and we will take care of you

The cab drivers in tel aviv are out to get you always check with a local what the going rate is for the distance you're going to travel, they don't have meters and will charge more the second they realise you're a tourist (happened to me multiple times)           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. They do have meters. You just have to tell them to turn it on. But the best thing is to ask the Cap company for the price if you order a cap by telephone. Then there's no problems

maybe some do, but not the ones that i drove along with... it's also common to accept extra passengers while bringing you wherever you go strange at first, when you're not used to it, but a nice way to meet people

this is how we met F.T.C.           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!

Are you sure this was in Israel???
Never had a taxi without a meter (though I did have to tell the driver to turn it on, numerous times)
Never had ppl joining my taxi ride. No driver has even suggested that.
The only case is 'service taxis' (SHERUT) which are not really taxis but more like minibuses, picking and droping ppl on a pre-defined route. Fixed price, always.

I also find it a bit strange that the taxi's should be without a meter... I have never seen that in Israel. But I have seen cap-drivers not turning it on

I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the taxi's that collect more than one person are special taxi's - NOT the regular ones you order by phone or find on the streets. Exactly like karnaf says... Mini-busses.
