Turn the effects off and you'll figure out why.
Not saying its not a good sounding synth, but at that price there are other synths (even cheaper) that sound much better.
Its the most overrated synth ever imo.

i am sure there are better sounding synths out there but the way the ti integrates with your daw is just brilliant. 16 parts delay compensated , audio interface, and midi control, for me its still the best.

yes, but you tend to use 16 parts of slightly modified presets don't you ? better to make each of your synth lines yourself i think...
That's why i will probably sell it           Psy stuff : myspace.com/neyaprod

computers are fast enough to run a lot more than 16 soft synths.
anyway, I can see how this is practical for someone who is making music on a not so fast laptop....although you in the field of a MacPro with Logic 8, considering how much the Virus TI (with keys) costs.
If you are happy with it, its all that matters.

hugaw i dont know where you get the idea that i use slightly modified presets. in onother topic i said its a great way to learn synthesis by taking apart presets.
I do enjoy going trough presets of my virus and looking at the settings on the monitor while wondering how that sound was made. Which other hardware synth can let you do this?

The only preset that i have ever used abused and modified is one of cosmosis presets for the ti and while doing so learned how to get to that point from the init. patch and making my own variations. I have tried to make similar growling sounds with vst but the virus can't be touched

I still think that virus ti desktop is bargain for what it does and the sound is great!
Constant updates, the latest being the virus atomizer, USB 3 and the list goes on.

pipe&slippers i dont have a mac pro or logic
I do have a custom build pc quad running ableton with all the major vst synths used commonly in psy but I do not use any of them. except trilogy and cronox for bass
I prefer the sound of virus over any vst out there but i cant comment on virus vs. other hardware.
If i had the money i sure would love to get my hands on some more hardware or a real analog synth and by the way I am more then happy with my virus.
You can so easily tell when a artist uses vst vs. quality hardware and I am one of those people that prefers hardware sound

Any VA, no? Some via VSTi, some via standalone editors           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

yea u right about the editors i forgot those existed
but which hardware has vsti?
there was one one hardware synth posted here with a picture i forgot the name, that was gonna do the same concept as the virus but it was real analog.
I dont think it hit the market yet, but i am down for one when it comes out

All of them, provided you take your eyes away from the screen and look at the interface on the box. Some times its better to not look at the screen and simply listen.
