there would be no psytrance culture
nor this networked international thingie
organizers artists and travelling freaks would have no way to connect.
there would be 5 artists released on sony and probably they would not really even make psy...
maybe more like a lounge act with synths... |

Wasnt there a psytrance culture before internet was widely available?
Wasnt there a psytrance culture up to 1998 or 1999?
Werent there big parties,good artists,labels and good releases?
In Greece when noone had internet just before the Millenium parties gathered 1500-2000 people on a weekly basis with different international guests every weekend and the trance scene was huge here.Same with Israel,UK,Germany and more countries.
Before internet there was radio you know which helped a lot this scene in many countries and people gathered information about artists and events and listened to music through the radio.
Yes internet did a lot good things for this scene but also a lot of bad things but in any case psytrance existed before the internet just like many other music styles and cultures so noone can say that without internet there wouldnt be a psytrance culture.
The only "cultures" that wouldnt be here with us today would be full on and dark psy because it wouldnt be possible and easy for everyone to buy a computer and start making music by gathering material from the internet like music programs,finished patterns by other artists and music samples and sounds.
You see in the old days real artists had a real studio and real hardware to work with and they couldnt easily find something ready to put in their tracks,mostly they had to create their sounds and thats why their music was so original and innovative.Today half of Israel uses the same basslines borrowed from Astrix.

No internet .. Mail swapping with mp3 files, more fanzines.. Maybe
more radio action, but I doubt it , no alternative music gets played
on radio here ..
Internet have definatley helped the psytrance scne, to grow this
international community it have become.. Now communicating with
someone in another contrey or part of the world is no problem, its
normal...
