why do they call idm listeners elitist. I mean its a generalization yes but where does the meaning come from?           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

you know, them

IDM listeners are by definition elitist. They listen to a genre that has "intelligent" written in it. I am not afraid to say I find something interesting in intelligent music. For some people (you know, them) that makes me elitist. But most psytrance listeners are far more sure that they (and only they... you know, they) know the only path to good music, so you should put only as much credit as you think necesarry on their words.

Just do your own thing. If it's good music, listen and enjoy.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

"they talk a lot dont they ?! " (Uma to Jhon, taiking about what happend to Tony Rocky Heror).

I hate definitions like intelligent or progressive when applied to music.
Sorry. Tried to hear some of those artists and aside some very cool sounds and technical wizardry i couldn't find much music or emotions. Maybe i'm too young for this.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I tried man, really hard.
I am pretty open minded when it comes to music, especially electronic.
I like the it's technical side. The sounds and the freedom of expression is outstanding.
But fail to hear the melodies, or any order.
I tried Aphex Twin (Some of it i liked), Autechre, Squarepusher, Amon Tobin.
I'll stick with 3/4 4/4 and from time to time 7/8 measures.
The Journey Man Project--> Bluetech is amazing indeed           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

hmmm, I understand & can see why some Autechre & Squarepusher may not appeal - Autechre's earlier stuff is where they did melody, Squarepusher still does on occasion. Amon Tobin's earlier stuff was riddled with melody.. so jazzy & less d&b oriented. Aphex Twin's music I find to be REALLY emotional / melodic!!! Don't know how you can't hear it?? (especially in the "Ambient Works" releases)

maybe check out Mouse on Mars - "Autoditacker"?           new Hadal Drop album on the way
