There has been so much hype around psykovski that I have gone several times to saikosounds (which can give you a decent idea of the music) and listened to all the samples from the vertigo album. But despite the hype I didn't really get it very much, ok yeah there was some interesting stuff but overall I just found the music to be kind of muddy and noisy throughout without much contrast, clarity or space to breathe. Like honestly it was almost stressful to listen to. Like it was not yet quite there for me to get into it.
However Kindzadza, who I understand is related to Psykovski, is a different story. I find their music fucking cool and totally twisted. Specially their new album. I just don't get the sense of muddiness and noise I get from Psykovski which I don't find that appealing somehow. But Kindzaza, its different.. like its not just the sketch but more like the better finished polished product. It just has more contrast, more clarity, less noise and more music and well produced grooves that shine with clarity.Specially the new album (fucking psychedelic)
So am I crazy? or does anybody else feel the same way? Or am I the only one that doesn't quite get the hype of Psykovski? (unlike Kindzaza)
hahaha.. maybe I just need to listen to Psykovski's album in CD and not just the saikosound samples.
Peace |

sounds like a Trick question.. hehe.
Hey I know its the same guys, so I don't know what to say. I guess in kindzaza I find a more funky, groovy, psychedelic and musically evolved and mature feel to it. Specially in the new album. And it sounds so nicely crafted and produced.. it shines with a crisp, clear and more musicaly skillful aspect to it. Very psychedelic, great job.
I also like their cover art:

I can understand what you mean.....I love the Psykovsky album, but mainly because of 2 tracks: Erlkoenig and (especially) Wishful Sinful (which is genius imo)- I hope to hear a few more tracks like this by him. The other tracks are also nice, but dont really blow me away that much on the long term.
Some people swear by the psychedlic power of this muddymurky sound, others think its bad mastering. I am undecided on this issue:) Still...I recommend buy the album, its definetly worth it.
The next album will show if all the hype is justified, expectations will be very high.
Need to hear new Kdd album, surely a bomb. And yup, nice artwork

Excuse me? Please do smoke a fucking joint and listen to Compos Mentis (the full track) if not any of the other tracks on the Psykovsky album. Without doubt its one of the besttttt tracks released to date. Wishful Sinful and Indigo Child ROCK too!
Nonetheless Kindzadza fucking ownz too!
Both are genious. Give psykovsky a good listen mate
Cheers

It would seem so
Its different styles.. psykovsky uses more pads and weaving various soundscapes together and his kicks and basslines are less prominent in the mix perhaps, but still super-tight... maybe thats why you percieve it as muddy I don't know, but I'll tell you it isn't. I say buy the CD and get blasted! |

Yeah I also definitely noticed the more prominent bass in KDD (which for me is also better for dancing)
But ok, maybe I will connect to psykovski if I can get over the muddy noisy feeling it gives me, so I will definitely give it another try. Thanks everyone for the comments |

Psykovsky is heads and shoulders above most other dark producers in my opinion. He doesn't just make heavy twisted music, he makes truely psychedelic music that takes you deep and purges your mind through sensory overload.
The production of 'Debut' is excellent, the only reason why it sounds muddy is that nearly every other producers in the scene are going for that in-your-face-compressed-to-the-limit sound that tends to tire your ears and distract your attention from the details in the background of the track (details which are non-existant in most trance).
The only other artist that comes close in the genre (in terms of psychedelia) is Derango, which also has a production that might be considered muddy if you don't pay attention to what's going on.
It's all about the layers of sound flowing and clashing into one another like a turbulant sea, Psykovsky is trance at its finest.
Row row row your boats gently down the stream; merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream. |

Well said and so TRUEE
KDD is easy listening, everyone gets it...Psykovsky is more emotional and definitely an elevated psychedelic component exists in his music. There is no comparison. INfact I do not get the Hype around KDD. His earlier music had a soul, now its just technique and teh same sounds over and over again. Reallie nothing exciting, but I iwll say his production is great. Psykovsky is music...it just is. |

Oh Aluxe It's Psykovsky
If you listen beyond the noise, you will hear heaven
Not only should you check out Derengo, but for a lighter journey, Zolod's album is pretty multilayered as well.
Not as intensly as Psykovsky, but surly in the same class.
