saving up for 500€ and getting those http://www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_hs80m.htm would really be worth the wait.

for 310€ you can get the smaller edition which i used too, http://www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_hs50m.htm nice to mix but really weak in bass, that means alot re-checks on other systems.          www.soundcloud.com/orgytime

Are you sure about the prices? I see 249 euros for the big one and not 500.

They ship to portugal?           Soundclound:

That must be the price for ONE.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Yes, they come packaged individually. But if you can save 200, why not wait and save 500?

If you are eager go for the 50's and pick up a subwoofer lately.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

They are flat sounding, meaning they sound as posible as the original source. Consumer products tend to be colored, meaning by this thay have "preadjusted eq" intended to make them "sound better" for the average listener.

That's why they are "studio monitors" to use in production.

They are preamplified (you dont need an amplifier to use them).

The yamahas also have some options in the back to adjust to the particular conditions in your room.

Do you already have a soundcard? (audio interface)

In order to use monitors properly you should use an audio interface but you can conect them directly to the computer using some adapters.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Behringer Truth for that price range, true, the name truth is not true, having said that, I managed to get good mixes with them and a b ing with headphones... It is about knowing their limitations, but to start out on a low budget they are worth looking into. You can always sell them , chip in some more ! And buy something else later...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

thats the rear of the yamaha speaker:

notice you also have to buy cables.
its common that good soundcards have a left/right output.

here are some common monitors:

http://www.thomann.de/de/dynaudio_bm6a_mkii.htm
http://www.thomann.de/de/focal_solo_6_be.htm
http://www.thomann.de/de/adam_a7x.htm

and here some interfaces (USB/FIREWIRE):

http://www.thomann.de/de/rme_babyface_silber.htm
http://www.thomann.de/de/rme_fireface_800.htm

notice you cant really go wrong with one of those,
but it depends on what you want and how much
money you have.

cheers

ow my brother, altho u are more experienced than me, i gotta disagree u on that...

beetween the behringers and the yamaha... i d choose the yamahas..

i have listened the yamahas very little times in friend studio..but they sounded superior than my behringers... and its almost the same price...

well maybe its just prejudice... but behringers gives me creeps nowadays...
they are agressive for the ears... very ear fatigue... and the mids are less defined in the behrigers than in the yamahas...bout the bass in the yamaha i havent payed much atention to it..but in the behringers the lows are farts

well i know u aint comparin both... but i wouldnt sugest someone to get the behringers considerin that almost with the same price u could get something slight little better..

What about equipment just for home listening? IŽm not gona record or mix anything, just want a better listening experience. Are these monitors and soundcards worth a buy? They seem to have lots of things i wouldn use here
