Really? Because I was heavily involved in the Australian rave scene from 1990 on promoting, DJ'ing etc. and even back then most of the EDM scene treated Goa & Psy trance as a joke for freaks. Even Dutch gabba & hardcore got more respect unless it was put on by just local psytrance only crews.

If anything I have seen Skazi and IM increase the appreciation of the full on style into the mainstream EDM scene, and I recently had a chat with the owner of one of our biggest commercial EDM festival who said he was considering the idea of introducing more of the harder edged psy styles (he meant the kind of South African twilight style).

I think it's ridiculous to say Skazi turned this scene into a joke, his style on Animal & Storm was some of the best hard full on, much better than the sh!t Astrix & his cohorts were releasing at the time.

I do not think there was one artist that single handedly made psytrance into a joke.
I am one of those people who believe that psytrance started going downhill after 2001, but then again there are people that got into this music after 2001 and loved the new styles that appeared since then.
Its a case of one man's garbage, is another man's treasure.
No point arguing about tastes.

Peace out.

Old artists should come back as chillout or more experimental projects. Dance music needs a little bit more understanding of what's been happening on the floor these last 5-6 years.

This might have been the best statement i have read on the internet about psy trance music for the last 5 years at least.

As about the Skazi-Animal album (and only since i dont consider Storm a good album) it was great and groundbreaking indeed for its time unfortunately though it was the one and only good work from Skazi, after that i dont have a clue what happened but everything and i mean EVERYTHING just went wrong music wise.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Well lets go back and see what we can figure out... Hold on! im looking for that memory card of days gone by...

The album Animal was release in 2001 which shows that you and me agree wifs Disco hooligans about Psytrance going downhill after 2001. Sweet pickles! We now have a baseline to work from, so what happened?

Well Psytrance has an evil twin named Darkpsy and she took the torch and carried it a few more years... Meanwhile, Neurotrance/Forest was underground working out where the Goa issues that Psytrance had stolen. By 2004 Neurotrance was ready to pick up the torch from Darkpsy and Forest Trance joining in mid 2005 due to some personal shit that come out later..Then! Well no need for a full break down just yet since this thread is about the older farts.

But ef you look around, more darkies are running this forum. Me as well agree wifs Yidam about the older ones coming back as chill. Anywho! Isn't Etnica chill music according to the young farts

so nice of you to say that Detox oldschool artists are actually very good music composers so making downbeat makes sense.

examples...

Electric Universe aka. Galaxy ... superb ambient project
Kox Box aka. Ion Ion ... superb ambient project
Etnica ... creator of one of the greatest chillout tracks ever (also why youngins make that association)
Deedrah, Total Eclipse, Earthling, Logic Bomb, Cosmosis, Doof, Gus Till (Slinky Wizard), ... all composed and some still composing amazing tracks in chillout and dub

Its cool to suggest what kind of music artists should make, but you are forgetting one thing, artists could simply be doing the music they like regardless of what other people think about it.
Obviously if an artist releases any kind of music, he immediately "signs up" for critique, but bare in mind that it is not easy to make music you do not like, actually it is very hard.
Etnica have the Tecnica prog/techno project as well, but I would not wish for the them to stop making trance tunes, even if they are not breaking any new ground.
The same goes for Logic Bomb, even tho I only really liked two tracks from their last album.
Same goes for Tristan.

At the end of the day, them people just do what they like and that is fair enough.

Peace out.

i would just like to say: that skazi video was seriously painful. like… in my brain. it hurt. alot.
i think from shame.

and instead of worrying about all this nonsense, why don't we all just make the music we want to hear?           Doof Local

That's just it, if we are sane at least
From that comes lots of music from people with similar tastes, lots of common sounds and ideas and lots of new things and interesting crossovers!           Sérgio Xamanist

My 2 cents:

I have a theory that most of psy artists have their best works from earlier studio´s days. I mean, tracks produced when they were discovering the sounds, and it was all about getting a nice flow to make ppl dance.

Checking my all time favourites, it´s a fact that the production is not even close to nowadays powerfull mixes. Simple sounds, fewer audio/instruments channels... But it still keeps me interested on listening to them.

"Animal" album is an example.           LOADING...

I understand they are like gods in Israel, but there is no need to get your knickers crossed if I did not like their music.

Peace out.

See what I mean DH ? It's the same thing, just take out Etnica and insert Skazi...

To question exactly this , was the idea of this thread...

But you just can't compare Etnica's new stuff to Skazi's.
