Please don't turn this into a juvenile argument. It's not the place. Save it for the fucking mp3 topics. If you don't know how he's affected the culture in which you are living, then learn it before you say or write a fucking disrespectful word.
The man could more elegantly in 10 sentences express the accidental truth of what we are living in, than could be expressed in 3 decades of literature and music. The world hasn't suddenly changed because he is no longer living, but due respect should be paid.
If you can't see it, then please post bullshit in a different topic.

No one of us knows why he killed himself. Maybe he just had enough, remember he was taking shitloads of drugs and was a heavy alcoholic.
Or maybe he was sick in cancer or whatever...?

perfect way for him to go, imo. better than seeing him die of cancer or something similar and un-poetic.
btw, I read a very recent interview with him (from last year) and he appeared very much together and with it. all these rumors of him going crazy has to be a media invention.

I know he was recovering from hip surgery and a broken leg and was in an enormous amount of pain.

I haven't got to read any of his books but to me it is enough having written the novel on which my favourite movie was based. Respect, rest in piece and next time I eat one in your memory. Don't get me wrong if I do  .
