how can it be, that so many ppl I see in the forum, and maybe many others too (like their friends) - are so hungry for power in trance?
I would ignore this issue, if it wasn't so collective. Aside from that, almost every peice of trance music released today must contain some kind of 'power' - or else it's not powerful anymore.
Further question: what is power ? banging music that's power ? loud clear leads, loud clear basslines, banging kicks?
I allways thought power - is emotion-shattering music - powerful - breathtaking etc...
One day I just wish we all understand, that we need little something from everything - which in the bottom line will concieve a creation - with a feeling.
The whole scene is filled with shallow-power tracks - how much more power do we really want ?
(Please don't start naming artists here)

No just kidding i now what you mean, i like powerful music.
But for me good ambient/chill out can be powerful too, like you said emotional stuff.

I so much dig ye, Trip!
although its a matter of taste, power for me is not harder kicks, noisier sounds or more agressive basslines - it is rather the emotional deepness and the 'right note at the right time', meaning that a melody (it can be even one note to be a melody if it is the right one) has to touch the soul and elevate the mind in joy.
And as EYB said, it is not confined to psy-trance, it is the same in every type of music.
Just remember that people who dig the more agressive type of sound probably see this issue in a different way, and again, bottom line it is a matter of taste.

people need power in their music, especially in Israel were people are so very tense and nervous. that's why they seek power in their music. it's easier for most to calm down after a crazy full on track than from a good chill track.
i say, full on crazy tracks combined with melodic enegetic and beautifull tracks.
power-relaxation for the body - power for the mind. energies....
