it was a Joke. what I am trying to say is - why try to expand our mind using artificial means when we can do it with Pure imagination? are we that limited? I don't think so :)

*clarification*

I started hearing psychedelic trance about 3-4 years before I first tried LSD.

The people which first take LSD and only then understand the music, well, it's just because they needed to peal off that layer of cynicism and ideas and have the music injected into their brain before they finally understand what's going on.

Once you pierce that layer, there's no going back.

As to Es and stuff, well, anyone that read PIKAL knows that they can have adverse effects as well. Unfortunately, these harm your memory and day to day actions. And the point of MDMA is to give you artificial emotion (some people say to artificially take out locked emotions), and no matter what definition you use, I think it's sad that someone uses this as a habit (maybe once every now and then as a social thing, putting it in the same category as... alcohol for instance).

LSD does not give you artificial emotions. It alters your state of perception. In a very psychedelic way. That altered state of perception is a different point of view - and from there you get the "mind expanding" - from the fact that your brain is working in a different way in a different situation different then encountered in day to day life (which can give both immediate "realizations" and a lot to reflect on later).

For advanced lessons, read TIKAL. :)

I personally think that different from house and techno, trance has a lot of emotion, not only based on groove or power. That's why it works well with LSD, and I think someone who uses MDMA to get an emotional connection with the music DOES NOT UNDERSTAND IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

And as for the "community" feeling, well, acid at the MFG act in Huga was my first time, and between the thousands there, we were all, in that short time, in a small, psychedelic village, away from this world.

You just had to be there to understand.

and as for "why use drugs to expand your mind", Simon Posford's 2 cents is that you can either practice meditation and reach a very high level of discipline over the path of twenty years or so to reach a certain level of clarity, or you can just smoke DMT.

go figure... ;)

By the way acid doesnt burn ur braincells and to the ppl who end up paranoid or crazy what have u, its cauz they had the genes in them but the act of the acid just helped it evoke(waken up)!!
And to do any kind of drugs(especially acid) u should know first what ur gonna get into and also how to control ur emotions and control ur brain with whats real and whats a hallucination, like that u can also control urself from getting a bad trip!!
And i can say i listened to trance before any psychedelic drug and i loved it! Acid and E and other things were just a boost and "opening" to my brain, imagination, feelings and thoughts bla, bla!!Which out of those experiences i did get to see things in a different perspective!!!
Aurora:U cant really compare drugs to a type of music!!
Heroin and crackheads lol cant hear any music they cant tell if a fat ass man is thrumping on there head with his huge hand, they´re living zombies!!
Anyway, drugs,no drugs trance is still one of the greastest things that waz ever discovered!!!

i know drugs are somewhat an important part of the trance culture no matter what everyone says, and so i accept it even though i never touch chemicals, and only smoke from time to time.
and i think that people that really love the music, can go to a party without any drugs to keep em going and still have fun. so i'm with aurora there :) though i don't know if i'm more open minded.
i usually keep jumping for 7 hours without anything, and people almost always think i'm tripping or on x when actually all that keeps me going is my love of the music, and the vibe around me. so i'd rather see everyone enjoying themselves without chemicals, but if you can't (or just don't want to :)), than hop on the hoffman express and let me see you go to another dimesion :)

right. and that's exactly what mdma do - peeling all the layers above u.

not if u take it like once at month.
unfortunately, lsd is not so innocent also.

please tell me what is "artificial emotion"?

obviously lsd didn't expand your mind much. otherwise u would understand there is no "right" or one way to understand music or any other art,
u can connect it through e, lsd, or be sachi. everyone got it's own way, and they r all good.

and jason - why taking that u ask - maybe because sometimes it's just fun?

hiedi, im behind every word.

now days i go to a party every few months or so...
no more.
and i take E when there is no good acid.
and unfortunatly most of the time there is no good acid.
the only good acid i remember was the "mad hatter".
that was the best acid i took.
god what great colors i have seen... ;)
everything was like uv.
it was amazing.

as for expending the mind...
i can talk only about my self.
and for me, the drugs changes my life.
in a very very very good way.

weed was the first thing that opened my mind and made me a relaxed man.
then was the E that made me understand the love in the world (thats why its called the love drug) and realize all the bullshit and what realy is important in life.
such as my friends, family and me ofcourse ;)
and the acid...
ohhhhhhhhhhh the acid made me see the beauty in the world.
and understand that everything (!) and i mean EVERYTHING (!) is bullshit.
today i am a changed man.
inlightend you can say.
as my signature say: i have seen the light.
i never had a bad trip.
i never had an E down.
i never get mad.
i never get upset.
i never lie (i dont see a point).
im always smiling.
i am truly happy.
no matter what.
or who.
or how.

and yes.
the drugs did it.
period.

I think people and music brought me to drugs.  But I started with the music, not with drugs.  Drugs are good to make the music feel better...

Hey Wacko Jacko and everyone else,

When I was in Israel there was definately no good acid, only in the beginning of the year there was hoffman but then there was a shortage of good acid so I took E but towards the end of the year there was madd hatter.  My friends had taken it but I didn't.  It's strange because all the people in the area got all these bad experiences with it but had great experiences with Hoffman, too bad I didn't get a chance to try it. anyways,

Are you an Acid or an E person?

I think that Drugs have changed me in a good way too.  Most of the time I tell myself I'm crazy but I think thats a good thing, or at least so I was told by my buddy trancers.

It's strange though, because the first time I took E it was the best trip ever and then, I got really bad trips a week later.  But I think it's because I smoked weed for the first time a few days afterwards and it kicked my ass.  I had horrible trips though, i was so confused for days afterwards and had these weird hallucinations.
but that could be for a few different reasons, i was switching countries after a year and I didnt' want to leave my home, and my friends.  Now that I am back in America, for some reason, weed makes me analyze everything too much, it sucks, but it saved me when I came back because I was really depressed. I definately learned how good it was to love the world from my friends and on E.  It's a matter of having the right teachers...
Drugs made me see things differently, I am changed too, I completely agree with you...
