Dude....I dont think you can find a formula for a great dj mix..just like there is no formula for a great song. One person can follow the sequence of prog house to electro to psy trance and make it sound awesome, someone else may have a similar sequence but his/hers mix may suck..IMHO as soon as you try to look for a methodical way to produce something, be that a song or a dj mix.....the magic dissapears.

I totally agree.

You could also say...

- Regardless of the formula for the set, it might or might not, turn out great -

i thought it was quite funny

anyway, there is no set formula to making a 'killer' set - if there was, all djs would sound the same

Steve Ronan, James Monro, Anti, Atmos, Frank E and although some might not like him, Timo Maas, have smashed dancefloors to tiny little molecules with their banging progressive sets.

James monro i have already seem, and he made a very dancing and travelling set, during 3 hours...its increadible how he mix very easy...we can see at his performance that he makes soemthing that he really like, and thats the only thing which matter, have fun and make the dancefloor burn and travel...

About Steve Ronan, Anti, Frank .E, Timo Maas...i havent heard yet..where can i find some top10´s or live mix from them??

By the way,Atmos is going to play here in Brazil at xxxperience, and i hope to go there and listen their live!!!

From what I have seen of Timo Maas, he totally sucks as a dj. I do think he is a great producer though.

Deep Dish live in Moscow, GU vinyl set!
There are three or four hits of season! Couple still played now. Dishes did great work there.
Any Global Underground release, almost any i don't like couple. All the best progressive music is on vinyls, this is reality! On CD all shite released, it doesn't mean all vinyl release is good, just good stuff you will probably find on vinyl rather on CD.

hmm. really good topic. i really can't see how you would fit ELECTRO in the middle of a proggy set without disturbing some people, but sure, why not, if the choice of tracks is right.

If you stick to the pattern mentioned in the first post, i'd start off with some tribal/proggy house. something deep to begin with. then when i'd introduce the more psy groove i'd throw in some James Monroe, Dino Psaras(later stuff), Neelix and end this part with some Antix.

Then deep into the night you unleash some deep deep tribal/proggy like London Sewer Tour and Krueger and Coyle....and, AND there is little place for your electro--> Steve Lawler - Illectronic Music
