Oh, I already said it in my post above...that their music was too weird, or not danceable enough. For example, an acquaintance of mine is really in love with Magus' old music, and Magus had lot of really good unreleased material floating around back in the day. Anyway, to make a long story short, here is the answer Kostas gave about why they didn't release more music:

I've heard the exact same answers when I have asked other artists, I have seen artists say it in interviews, etc. I am not blaming anyone of course. I can't expect to have record labels make releases that they will lose money on. This was a response to the naive question of why Rip Van Hippy didn't release on bigger labels.
