i have listened one more time, yes, they are different, but i think the difference comes from different notes played and different eq applied (my sample is without any post-processing). The basic waveform and ADSR seem the same for me...

actually, actually it would probably sound similar without the chorus or detuning it has going on then you add your quadrafuzz or similar distorion voila also take note the kick used in this sample was drastically different

I wouldn't really worry too much about the synth or preset. To me the groove, aka elasticity, in the sample comes from the way it is sequenced more than anything else.
I'll load Sonar and have a go at reproducing this.

Yes-yes!! Loki, Mahamudra... its what I need...!!! Whats the synth they are use?
As for cronox, brothers, tell please - whats the presets you are use (or whats the waveform in it)?
Thanx for Ultrafocus - very similar!
P.S. As for me (I am member of russian goa-psytrance project Pan Psychic) i use now for bassline - hardware synth Novation Superbass with EQ cut in 500Hz. Very cool, but I want to expand my "bassline experience" |

nice section , first time i see it
well..... when u say bassline u need to understand its not only the sound of the bass that counts... if you want good sound in ur track u need to make a good mix betwin the kick and the bassline.
as for the synth's/plugins ect.... you can make great bassline from almost anny synth there is.... dont be afraid to put effects on it... like quadrafuzz or doing eq .... (that was just an exemple) .
alltho there are allways favorite synth's
some inside stuff:
reaktor: Photone all kind of elite bass, juntik for electro bass.
junglist, scorpion and hydra have great bass
sytrus nice bass as well
tau 1 ,2 and tau pro, bass line (aoudio realism)
Try this at home: take trilogy, search the tb 303 preset , put on it 2 qudrafuzz(its a kind of distortion) but dont touch annything on the quadrafuzz exept the eq on the left..... play with the sound on the trilogy and play with the eq of the qudrafuzz untill u hear good mix with ur kick...
should be elite bassline for Psy or Fullon
have funn

and if that quoted info isn't enough then you can PM mahamudra here in isratrance and ask him to add additional info about that specific bass to this post,
i think he will be glad to reply to your post here some nice info.
or maybe also some presets for bass + explaining what to add in the insert channel + presets for those plugins too
don't kill me.
hehe
the artists here are like Robin Hood, they help poor people like us whom lake in sound knowledge
realy many many "super" thanks to all of those whom share great info.

In CronoX 2 start with the bassline6 preset and tweak from there but as I said earlier, the notes, lengths, velocity etc are the most important thing to get the groovy feel.
In the example I posted I added EQ, Quadrafuzz and some compression to bring out the attack of the bass a bit.

cronox ???yeah its less about the synth more about how you do it. cronox is not my number one choice for this type of bass the oscillator is too messy.
I didn't listen to the original file but i got the idea.
You can do this kind of bass with any synth with a descent sawtooth... try the es1 the best softsynth oscillator imo. as for the esllaticity. its about changing notes through a whole octave... if you have a bass in G you could go from G0 to G1 (or g1-g2)to get that typical bouncing bass. the basic bouncing full on israely bass from 2001 ect... was simply 2 notes...eg: Go and G1...
Kg0g1go,kg0g1go,k...
A more interesting bass would have (a)different note(s) in between...
For a more groovy slower bass you can remove a note on each beat... instead of kbbb,kbbb,.... you could have kb.b,kb.b,kbb., ect...

what you can try is to have 2 tracks for use 2 different equing, 1 track for all the low octaves notes and the other for all the high octave .
about the bassline i think the pattern is something like KB-BK-B-K or K-BBK-B-k |

Hello all
I Got some PM's about the bassline thingy so instead of replying to each and every one I will post my reply here.
First of all like psycho-italiano mentioned i did post a "tutorial" about making a nice bassline and here it is
http://forum.isratrance.com/the-mother-of-all-basslines-thread/page6/
well like some people have said here, indeed the bassline mix changes with different kicks, also changes with different level between them i mean if you take your mix and lower the kick in 2DB you got a whole new mix or if you lower the bassline with 2DB again a new mix appears.
But now for the actual question that was asked:
We mostly use trilogy for our basslines and we mostly use the tb303 preset (if I remember correctly it's located in: synth bass --> are you sure --> tb303) I don't have trilogy here in my pc so it's based on my memory which isn't that good!
Now when you load that preset (we like to load it on both channels of trilogy to get a more powerful signal) you will hear a signal that sounds nothing like a bassline, this is the time to play with some buttons.
First of all turn off any LFO, close any knob on the synth and lower all the slides on the amp envelop
and filter envelop, put the filter type on LP1 (low pass1) close the cutoff and resonance knobs and put the master filter slide on the middle and the master resonance slide on the left (close),
The env knob should be open with a red light and to the right all the way to the right or just half way you will configure it by what kind of sound you want for yourself.
ok now you shouldn't hear a signal as your ampere and filter envelop slides are all the way down..
So now raise to the middle the D and S knobs (s for sustain and d for decay) on the amp envelop
And raise just a bit the D and S slides on the filter envelop until you hear a signal.
that's it more or less you got yourself a start of a nice bassline, now its the fun part playing with the knobs and slides to get some cool sound that you like, for example: turn all the way to the right the env knob and raise all the way up the S and D slides on the filter env to get an "open" bassline (mostly use on electro tunes)
Or close a bit the env knob and lower the D and S slides on the filter envelop to get a more "paunchy" punchy and "fat" kind of bassline.
There's no limit to what you can get by playing but remember to mix it good with your kick.
One more thing, I saw some one upload our track "mirage" as example, well in some parts of this track the bassline is on stereo and that totally changes the mix so keep in mind.
I didn't upload for you a preset of our bassline from one reason, i think the best way to learn is to do it yourself and by doing it yourself and exploring the synth you will find more new things and then you can share it with me! hehe
I hope it's helpful and have a nice one
