um, no, he´s not on TV.

I guess you could say he´s famous in the South African trance scene, but you don´t exactly see people lining up for autographs and shit.

He´s well respected more than well known.

tru that !!! RESPECT

for me SHIFT is the most absofuckinglyspectacular thing that happened in psytrance !!!           Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds.
If you cant convince them, c-o-n-f-u-s-e them !!

Most of the trance scene and artists, although well established, are out of the public eye, although in Cape Town its more popular knowledge but still never in the papers or TV. We prefer it that way - but its a shame we got such good talent here (shift, protoculture and others) and the public don't know how successful and talented they are. The mainstream dance scene here is cheesy house music in dodgy clubs, most of them think they are scared of psy trance but the best party vibes (music and people) are definintely at outdoor trance parties!

YEah....its tough!

Once you start playing and releasing tracks....its something you proud of.

and your parents won;t come to a trance party....how do they really see you talents?

It would be nice to be on radio and TV....to be interviewed....and all that....but then the scene would suffer.

So its like a catch 22 situation.

But yeah...prefer it underground.Better that way.

I love Shift and the Timecode label (equal best in the world to 3Dvision). I thought that the Timecode party in Cape Town was the best.
Yet I don't know what Shift looks like. Isn't that insane? I'll have to make a plan, but there are so many good SA artists (Protoculture, Artifact, Skragg, Hydrophonic etc).

One Saturday night I turned on Radio 5 (one of SAs biggest commercial radio stations) and heard about an hour of blasting Timecode music - including Shift tracks.

Derek the Bandit is apparently a fan of Twisted System .. hehehe

Problem with 5fm is that you have to listen to 500 hours of utter crap to hear one hour of good stuff. I have completely stopped listening to the radio (more than 8 months).
Slug is also great, the new album (1st?) is pretty awesome.
