Taking advantage of a tripped out girl in a party and marrying her just for the your own sake to get VISA. Thats what I called a dickhead and FAKE MARRIAGE. If you call that a serious marriage your the one thats tripped out.

And now If you had a normal marriage then write so! Your 2 posts are contradicting
big time which makes it hard to beleive of what you wrote in your previous post.

If your really a father of two be more mature and stop writing stupid posts man.

This has been a very interesting read and topic. Because right now I am in my 3rd year in uni under teacher training for Geography and English (major geo/minor english). However, I am not a native speaker, born in Brunei where the national language is Malay. I will see my chances after I graduate in 2 years time.

WHoa whoa whoa whoa

WHOA!!!!

Calm down.

I could care less about marrying some japanese woman. I just wanted to know how I could get there so I could experience the trance culture.

I don't know about that JET program either. The stuff I read on those students there........sheesh, and I thought our(america) public school system was bad.

I don't think male students grabbing male teachers balls is cool. As a matter a fact, I think it's pretty damn gay.

I have a short fuse, and I swear to god I would fuck someone up if they did some twisted shit like that.

I would really like to go there one day, but not to live there. I think the japanese culture is WAY out of my league.

dtmoney -

Yes a lot of weird stuff can and does happen in Japan. however you should keep in mind that, on the internet, you only tend to here the most extreme stories about what has happened over here (not to mention a fair amount of pure B.S. too).

Also keep in mind that the internet is full of bitter people who want to push their horror stories of how bad Japan is on everyone, but the fact of the matter is that most of these people simply can't get along well regardless of where they go. But since they are in Japan, its the Japanese' fault, etc etc. For every person like that, there are many many more who had a perfectly fine time and enjoyed there time here (or still are enjoying there time here in many cases). The JET program is actually fairly decent, although it does depend a bit on your placement. From what I hear, often the primary and middle school jobs are the best as the kids aren't quite at that "too cool for school" stage and a lot more fun to interact with.           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity

Yes, dt money...the kids here will probably try and pull a fast one on you! There`s a bizarre but very popular prank that elementary kids like to play called "kansho" which involves sticking their fingers up a guy`s bum and then running away giggling(Japanese version of the "wedgy"). Since I`m not a guy, I`ve never experienced this sort of thing, although most guys just shrug it of since the kids are so damn cute! However, I was utterly embarrassed today when one of my 15yr old Jr. High students(a boy) commented loudly on my "big busto" while gaping at my clevage..ahem! I`ll get over it though..could be worse..like not having any busto at all
Personally, the benefits in my Jet placement far outweigh the negatives and I`m loving it! But that`s me...I`m a pretty open and easy going person(not that you aren`t)and I have an excellent arrangement(great schools, cheap but amazing apartment and tons of extra vacation)!! Everyone`s experience is different and like Jikkenteki said, some people just can`t cope no matter where they might be. Ultimately, it really is what you make of it!

Jet is fine, by far the easiest way to get started in japan but as I said you need a placement close to the action if you can (i.e at most 2 hours bus ride from Tokyo)-Saitama, Chiba, Fukushima etc.

Hi dtmoney
I teach in a public junior-highschool and those kind of things never happened to me...
i live here almost 3 years and my suggestion to you is "never believe what u read or hear 'bout japan, just come and see it by yourself"
Its fucken amazing here...for good and bad...
After U'll come I'm sure U'll understand more.
My wife is japanese and her family is very traditional,But the culture differences aren't bigger than anyplace else in the world.
i'm sure U can handle this.
so try to calm down man...its not as big as it looks here.

reading this interesting subject, i wonder how people get on with the language, specially the reading??? it must be a nightmare changing words for those little images... i have no idea how it works, buses, TV, supermakets, do they have an english version everywhere you go? or do you have to guess what that is for those artistic images which they call words?
i hate be not able to read something, but i think it is quiet impossible to learn how to read japanese...

Learning to read Japanese is hard only if you want it to be. It does take some serious effort in the early stages, but it is nowhere near "impossible" as some people might have you believe. Like anything, if you work on it, you will improve, if not, well you get what you pay for. I majored in the langauge in college (and spent three years here as a student as well) so that helped, but the main thing is emersion. If you surround yourself with the langauge and try hard, you will learn it. You'll even find that those weird characters have some logic behind them and after awhile come to prefer Japanese written with them rather than purely phonetic Japanese written Japanese.           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity
