Sounds like club trance more than it does psy. Of course a lot of "psy" producers are doing this these days. I think it may attract new listeners who are used to more commercial friendly music, but it turns away those who are truly into psychedelic trance.

Lately psytrance has been being defined by kick and bass. If it has the same style than it's classified as psytrance. But it was never meant to be defined by this.

So my only advice (with no disrespect meant to your musical taste) is that you listen to some Goa trance and older psytrance and hear what makes psytrance psychedelic. Notice more than just the kick and bass sounds, Note the usage of strange sounds and the themes of the songs themselves. Read up on the history of Goa trance. If then you are still interested in this style of music, take that direction. If you still are into, well, more of the club type sound then...well, I guess, go that way.

I cant tell you not to put psy bass and kick into your music and label it psytrance. But it's sort of like putting duck feathers on a chicken and calling it a duck.

I'm sure many will vehemently disagree with me, but I think that's probably one of the cornerstones of psy production.

really what has kate perry to do in a psytrance track if not reversed and with lots of FX on? lol

lsd is great stuff.. its a part of the psychedelic movement... the one who invented the dna spiral took lsd.. so lsd makes you reflect and think outside of the box..... space out...

Hey Bro... you sound ok but you are producing like most mexican noobies around, just psypop and nothing more. If you want to really make an impact stop trying to become the next bizarre contact and rather create powerful & energetic music.

Saludos!

Good post. Very good actually and worth a thought.

But... (this is my opinion only and I didn't hear the track)..

My problem with the post is that mixing different genres is a GOOD thing (again imo).
I wish more would do that (trying myself ofcourse), and if they did, I'm sure we'd have a lot more interesting music to listen to.

I'd like a psypunkacidtrance style the hard way with little compromise. I'm sure I'm not alone.

To get the music industry forward today I think a bit of genre mixing is indeed needed to stand out and have something that's unique.

No no, I agree with you. Different genres is a good thing. Psytrance has always had other genres of music mixed in. Cosmosis had blues in "Down At The Crossroads". Goa trance has always infused East Indian music. We here Flamenco, rock, classical, and many other genres of music blended into psytrance.

But it's not just the kick and bass that makes it psychedelic. It's the mood, the feeling, the themes, and the mind state it puts you into. There is some great forward thinking psytrance and then there is that Ibiza club sound.

I could go on. But I'll stop there. To each his own.

@ andrew, yes like GMS. Their music used to be sooo good. They got me hooked on psy back in the day. Now it's not the same.
