So can someone help me with a link for 'the shining' remake not the orginal one as someone mentioned ?? all i was aware of was the 1980 kubrick's classic, didnt know this also existed.. some more light on the remake please

boom

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118460/

imo, kubrick's is way better. this one's plain boring, with bad actors all the way.

It stinks, if you compare it to the original!

Kubrick is Kubrick!!!
And Jack Nicholson is Jack Nicholson, if you know what I mean!

Haven't read the entire thread, so I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but I watched "1408" yesterday and it was a very good movie and a strong experience - I was actually still thinking about it this morning. Especially the part where the main character (John Cusack) is back in the room again.

Very psychological movie, and the best new horror-movie I've seen for the last few years. Has some very interesting and overwhelming twists.          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

^lovecraft is my absolute favorite! its too bad there are no QUALITY film renditions of his weird tales. or at least i havent seen any yet. but i do have high hopes for del toro's version of 'at the mountain of madness' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1118070). that should be lucid as fuck. anyone intersted in lovecraft can find free legit audiobooks at (http://www.sffaudio.com/2006/10/more-hp-lovecraft-audiobooks-for-free_09.html)

anyway, here are some of my personal recommendations for anyone interested in a little cerebral terror. none of these are particularly gory, but IMO they all create a heavy atmosphere where you could cut the tension with an old butter knife :] i love these movies!!

Funny Games

Last Train To Freo

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0848592/

Irreversible

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/

Red Road

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0471030/

Wolf Creek

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416315/

Audition

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235198/

(this one is by Takashi Miike whose infamous for splatter porn....so yes, its graphic!! but still relatively tame compared to some of his more extreme excursions)

Henry : Portrait Of A Serial Killer

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099763/

and if you like your horror movies with a pinch of humour...check out

Man Bites Dog

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103905/

Nadja by David Lynch

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110620/

(which boasts a blissed out score by portishead)

Im also putting down some movies with extremely high levels of violence, gore, perversion for all you dark & twisted people out there. I personally found these these movies to be really disturbing...and haven't been able to sit through all of them. but hey, feed your sickness...

Salo : 120 Days of Sodom (Pasolini was beaten to death and run over by a car twice after this film was released. Possibly the most horrifying movie to be committed to film. i was physically reeling after the first quarter..Still haven't finished watching this one and don't plan on either.)

Hole In My Heart by Lukas Moodysson

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381682/

In My Skin
