I think the artists that does masterings usually suck! In fact i think this shoulder-clapping competition is unreal: Remember that good mastering comes from good ears, know-how and equipment. I doubt most of the ppl. mentioned here has what it takes...
Leave the mastering to PROFESSIONAL people.
Furthermore i would like to share my concern on the subject, since i totally agree that many masterings are very poor, made by ppl. with no understanding of compressing and handling of audio. If you dont know how to master, or you think that you do know; please stop doing it, you are ruining masterpieces with your clumsy wannabe producer attitude.
Im not mentioning any names...
(Damn i was really hoping that my post no. 300 was a positive one :S)

i like the mastering from tim schuldt very much, also lawrence hoffman make a good work! 
sorry, but i have to mentioning two names: Kindzadza and CPC!!! That's the master of disaster for me!!!
the japanhytm compi kill my ears, only high aggressive frequencies and nothing more!!
i'm sure, that sometimes the finished tracks from the producer, sounds much times better, than after the "professional" mastering!!!

In a scene where people rather use their money on drugs than music it's not a big surprice that the mastering is of such poor quality. Good professional mastering cost money and money is not what makes this scene go round.

Charles (Triptych) is doing the masterization for us for a while and also he work already with another labels around and he always did a fantastic work with it.

i think all tracks should have the same volume .
i agree with acid scout that some music has very agressive high frequencies (maybe it is a new trend, together with this breakcore music you (me) cannot
dance to- but this is another story ...).
for me all the auraquake stuff has very good quality.

the besttt his work speaks for it self wid the amount of albumz he has mastered for many a rec labelzz ..
VA - MECHANIK CASTLE ( one of the most phattest i have heard in my life , JESUS ...  )
and if u wanna hear smthin in terms of bad mastering ..the first compilation tht came of noise poison rec , germany was really bad mastered .. sony india did quite an average work on the cd i must say  .. jus an opinion ...! 
other favs wud b 4CN studios , artifakt , silicon sound..! and a few more ... the better the technicality n deatilin dn at the mastering stage THE PHATTER THE CD ...!

I say things the way see them. I guess I excercise my right to have an opinion that's not always popular. But why so upset about something that's a fact?
Is the fact that the psytrance scene suffer from a major drug abuse syndrome and the fact that some dealers (some deep rooterd in organised crime) and that they become very rich on peoples abuse really that much of a tabu to some psytrancers?
It's also a fact that people don't buy much music anymore for various reasons and by that harm the quality of the releases.

you d have to be extremely naive to think that drug abuse and problems dont happen in all musical scenes.... or indeed in all scenes period. its a human thing not a psy trance thing...
