The review:

Man, this is hard stuff. Nine tracks of pure kicking darkpsy with lots of weird samples, squelchy fast acidlines, jumpy nervous basslines and relentless kickdrum pouding. That sums the release up nicely. If you liked the Cosmo release you'll probably like this as well. It's just as furious and hard and has a lot of breaks and hard relentless kickdrums. Let's go through the tracks.

Track 1: We start off almost immediately with a pounding kickdrum and a hard bassline. Lots of screeching noises and a carhorn sample of some kind. The track doesn't evolve much but it uses the kickdrum to good effect. Not as hard as it's gonna get over the tracks that follow, but a solid startup. Ends abruptly though.

Track 2: In this track the bassline is more nervous like and the sounds form up to a sonic apocalypse of sorts. Damn, this is hard stuff. Might rip the dancefloor to shreds when timed proper in a set.

Track 3: The sample 'Progressive' is used to good effect, along with a sample from Saw if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, hard noises, nervous bassline, lots of breaks... crazy stuff!! Good track, if you like this style.

Track 4: Starts like a hardcore track. Man, that's loud. Don't worry it's only the first few seconds. Gets kinda like the first tracks after that. Wild and screechy noises follow and some kind of 8-bit sounding computersamples. Hehehe, wacky. But I like it.

Track 5: The bassline is fatter in this one. Sounds deeper. And well, you know what to expect. Lots of weird screeches, bleeps, the pounding nervous kinda bassline. Yep, it's all there. Getting tired of it yet?? Well, I'm not.

Track 6: Aptly titled Killer Track, but it's actually one of the more normal tracks on here. Sounds like something Temple Twisters would put on their compilations. Nicely done.

Track 7: Great sample usage. It's about LSD, but finally a sample I've never heard before. Good stuff. Nicely put together and a good flow in this one. Well, it's no progressive ofcourse, so the trademark hard kickdrum, nervous bassline, hard screeches and stuff. Yeah, it's all here.

Track 8: Good sample usage again, probably from some kind of promo for a movie or series. Otherwise a standard track, not really as wild as the tracks before, but still pretty hard ofcourse.

Track 9: Cosmo time again. The longest track on here. Some good samples again. Actually, this track sounds like it was based on samples. Lots of breaks, like you're used to from Cosmo. Nice track to finish off.

Conclusion:
Well, it's a hard ride and if you're up to it this can be a good release. When timed proper, some of these tracks can certainly rip up the dancefloor. Don't know if it's that well suited for home listening though. I don't have a problem listening to it from start to finish at home, but then again, I'm a freak when it comes to psytrance, hehehe. Most people might complain it's all the same vibe throughout the album and you know what? They're right. But the tracks on offer here are just hard stuff and well produced. The sound quality is crisp and clear, so no problems there as well. All in all it's just a good album. No superb stuff, just good. And well, that's enough to warrant a purchase in my book. If you like Cosmo's style, or you're just looking for some dark and hard psytrance, this might be just the thing. Nice artwork on the cd too. Be warned though, if you already own the Cosmo album this should certainly be listened before buying, since it's more of that and perhaps some people might find it too similar. It's also kinda short, with just over 60 minutes of playing time. Then again, after 60 minutes of this your mind is probably burned up anyway Ok, I'm off.

Wow, did nobody make a thread about this before?

Anyway, I love this album more all the time. I like it better than the last Cosmo album because it's fatter, crunchier and doesn't have all those irritating samples (I like tracks with lots of samples but the last Cosmo album has goofy ones). The tracks do sound similar to each other, but when are you going to listen to the whole thing through? Any one of the tracks would rip a party up at the right time in a set, and that's what counts. Zik played "Xxx-perimental" when I saw him last year and I was obsessed with finding that track from that night until I finally first heard this album.

Can anyone recommend more psytrance artists (doesn't have to be dark) who work a lot of glitchy stuff in to their tracks? I can't get enough of it!

Finally someone replies. Upon listening both again I also think this album is better than the Cosmo one. It's just fatter and it doesn't go as beserk as some of the Cosmo tracks. Track 8 and 9 from the Cosmo cd are soooo hard!! (Too hard maybe) And this album just doesn't go there. It remains solid all the way through. Great work.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

I heard these tracks much before it released at a party where Highko was spinning and I kept asking around until I found out it was the 'Highcosmo alliance'. They sounded great for the first time and you have to hand it to these guys for the amount of effort put into arranging the sound, but I feel you come to a point where you outgrow the album because the sounds tend to repeat themselves every so often.

Wow really smashing, synapse popping stuff here. Constant solid, driving bassline and ever-morphing fx (really, really amazing fx) make this cd an interesting listen from start to finish, never a boring moment in this cd. I would describe this as "short attention span music". Really fun, really psychedelic, irresistiably energetic.

No tracks stand out for me in particular, as noted before they all have pretty much the same sound to them, but it's such a good sound that that is not a complaint at all.
