so I am the only who feels like there's just nothing happening in terms of good ol heavy psy in states? everything seems to proggy this and tech that, is this really the sound that the people demand now or what? because this shit is not psytrance, why go to an outdoor party to hear this proggy techy bs when you can hear the same stuff in a club?? UGHH! wtf is going on, why have the crowds/ organizers turned their backs on real psychedelic music??

It looks like Oklahoma is putting something together right now and I know they like it heavy!

Woah, I had no idea there was any psytrance in OK. Whereabouts? I'm originally from OK and still visit several times a year, would love to get in touch with anyone in that area who digs the psy.

I seriously thought I might be the only Oklahoman who even knew psytrance existed..           http://www.soundcloud.com/Coterminous

Your rant is valid as far as it goes here in Southern California and no, your not the only one. You nicely put to words how i feel at the bar when you said there's not enough "NASTY" music. There is a Total lack of deep driven pensive stomping stellar traveling psychedelia!!! It's just not around and I too wish it were. All that seems to be around is feel good party music with waaaaaay to many and to long of build ups that really don't lead anywhere. not a lot of balance on the heavier side, balanced nicely on the tech/prog/bounce/ full-on side though.

and this in know way has anything to say bad against the organizers doing events here, I 200% fully support what has gone down and what is going down. Because of Pulsar I've been introduced to sets spun by Aveon, St. Black and Deli-fi that I totally dug and was glad to be apart of. it introduced me to music that I probably wouldn't have come across. Totally NOT my idea of what I like to get down and dirty to but in a dive bar with beers and friendly new people chilling its cool. though it would be nice to have more time given to some dirty heavy sh@t!!!!
I don't even know if there are any dj's around even spinning such music.

When I go out to get down, I like to feel while I'm doing and when I get home that I was somewhere so raunchy and wild and naughty that I can only smile and chuckle to myself and nothing has been around to make me feels this . everything seems nice and happy horns feel good. Lunagon provided a nice glimpse of hope (not in heavy but more in the sense of I now know that there are people who do care more about sound waves then songs which I wish more people did) and the party at the proud bird with Menog, D-tek, Sentient,Swell, Nic aragon, Barakuda, and Deli-fi was a very solid well flowed stomping good time for the time and place but it was still not nasty at all. Subocaj kinda gave me a taste at pulsar a few months ago but only minutes not hours. all in all no heavy at all. AumshantiAum fixing this is part of what I told you in the park to do.

What seems to go down here are only social based gatherings with music that people involved like and want to share. which is GREAT and well needed (even by those who want it nasty so it can balance) because you can't hear most of the music being played at clubs or anywhere and it's still a way better option and environment to go out and have a laugh and share good times with friends and meet interesting people to cultivate ideas. What I would like to see and I'm down to help manifest are gatherings that are more Sonic Based and a social place base for heavier darker music to balance things here in SoCal

whats up chemistry, yes I totally agree that are a lot of solid good social gathering events in SoCal where the music is just fine for a nice time out. but there is a total lack of nasty, hard and heavy psytrance these days in our area. I fully support the Pulsar scene as well, its great to have a place to enjoy some music and drinks at so close to home. My disappointment is not really with the indoor parties anyways, I dont really expect to catch too much nasty psy indoors. Im upset that the outdoor parties dont have the heavy stuff happening anymore. And there is plenty of california talent that does play the good stuff we just dont catch any of it down here anymore. Anywayz hopefully we can do something about it, lets see. bOM!!

I read through this thread. As many of you already know, heavy isn't really "my thing." That said, I totally 100% support balance in the scene! I'd love to see more organizers doing more gatherings to support our already thriving scene. I think the key is having a community of organizers that mutually support one another, even if they have slightly different musical visions. I support diversity, and many different music scenes!

You could say what I've done is musically biased towards prog/full-on, but at the same time most of that has been indoors. Although it is inescapable that our own tastes will manifest through events/lineups we work on. I do appreciate the kind words about Pulsar. And I do hear you guys, and realize what kinds of music you want to hear.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

Cool discussion going on in this thread.

I flip back and forth on heavy psy depending on mood and how much of it I've been exposed or over-exposed to at any given time. That said, there's nothing like it and there are no substitutes when that's what you're looking for.

I agree with some observations re: socal. Very great social outdoor scene covering many genres (especially a lot of tech), but straight up hard psy intentioned gatherings are lacking. Psycircle is in somewhat of a hiatus nowadays. Psytribe seemed busy with a lot of collaborative events at the proud bird (and I'm sure a lot of energy went to the BM camp). So ya, not really much in the way of heavy psy desert ragers. There was a great party in the spring from the Xexify crew.... hint hint... perhaps a fall gathering is in order... hint hint?

I'm working towards putting something small together for the spring that's been bouncing around in my head.

Yes scenes have been on the soft side lately.

Kashyyyk was around the US earlier.

Orestis is going to be around the end of the month. Alien Mental resides in Florida. Munk E resides in California. 'Nuff Said.

Promoters want to book them? Tis the season to be frolicking in the desert no?

You know what to do.

We had Aes Dana and Solar Fields out in August. That was major heavy psychedelic music.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I had something a little heavier and more abstract in mind, more along the lines of this:

well in that case, your perspective is totally different from mine on what exactly hard and heavy psychedelic music is. It's all perspective...what i consider hard and heavy psychedelic music is way beyond even the braindrop mix.

Look around, you made a generalized statement saying "the States", as in ALL of them, we've had tons of full power hard heavy psychedelic parties all OVER the states this year, you just have to travel brahhh.            WARNING: The Reality Master General has determined that Mr. Vomit may significantly alter your reality. yah man originally I was just checking if it was only my locality or the rest of states, I see that in other areas across the country full power stuff is happening.

As for the mix I referred to, its just a general idea of what im talking about it. I hate calling the music "dark" but that is what many people refer to it as. And yes we all have different perspectives on what hard and heavy psychedelic music is but I think we can both agree that most of the full on and tech prog stuff doesnt fit in there for us
