the irony is that i am using internet to write this...HAS INTERNET SCREWED THE PSY SCENE?
in my opinion, yes.
- free music...huge loss to producers...guyz buy cdz
- over advertising of parties, leading to busts and turning the speakers back to sick indoor clubs
- spread of word...weird crossovers
- and many more which are out of context with compliance of isra
i agree its the way we should use it to the best accords, but a coin always has two sides
bring me back those magical fractals in the forests

nobody even before the internet used to buy psy cds, in fact if anything the sales of psy must have quadrupled since internet. what internet has done is made everyone more greedy as its to connect with 5million people very quickly and then base your projections on that..if anything internet has made life much easier for producers..they dont have to spend money to fly down to a foreign country specially to scout an artist...internet saved a lot of money for the labels and producers...parties have overall remained the same size in numbers, a few leave a few join a few stay...advertising is done so as to break even on a party if nothing else...200 hippies out which 50 are the organizers friends who refuse to pay and out of the remaining 150, 75 are regulars of the club or the friends of the owners of the property, out the remaining 75, 10 are the friends of the dj/artist..at the max 65 people out of 200 are going to pay...thats why the advertising...

without the internet, there would've barely been a psy scene at-least in India. I know the some of the older generation parties have happened without much forum announcement, but all those location maps were still mailed to each other if im not mistaken.
you just cant take away its role in spreading the culture, im not sure im gonna look at downloading music as such a bad thing here since everything in the first place is about free love, free this and free that.. and without the internet and downloading music there would've not been as much sales for producers as there is today. How else would i know what music is releasing without psyshop??
I dont even see it as a 2 sides of a coin.. since i dont see too many disadvantages of the internet as far as the psy scene is concerned, its only the way wwe use or abuse it!
the problem is that everything has become such a business, its now all about the money and less about the music. Nothing is said that has not been said before. |

Internet has not spoilt the psytrance industry, people have....
Internet is a boon to all labels, artists / producers and promoters....end of the day if people download music that is not meant to be downloaded for free, it is their own conscience that needs to be blamed... not the internet.
True, people should BUY CD's that are released with the intent for sale which is what feeds record labels and artists, alike....
No one stopped people from downloading music provided it was released with the sole intent of actually downloading it for FREE.
Just my thoughts... (You dont have to agree with it  )

internet has only exposed the music to huge number of ppl...smaller gatherings have become larger - BOOM - Antaris - Freedom - Free Spirit - armagadon to name a few...
the scale of psy trance is much much bigger as compared to earlier days . bcuz of this values fr things like parties,festivals,etc have sky rocketed and its no longer a underground movement though the music for many artist remains underground!!
i think internet has only helped!!
Busts happen bcuz of drugs and nothing but drugs !!
i say --
SAY YES TO TRANCE AND NO TO DRUGS ..then only we can dance non stop on this amazing form of music that still is defining boundaries !!

Its about awareness imo.. more and more people are aware of these artists and the sounds they come up with then ever before hence more music is coming up why? i think because people are looking into this form of music with interest and maybe their(labels/artists) personal sales could have gone up(Assuming) through promotion... also now a chance to play at big festivals and respecting a fact that 1 man paid to attend it not because he bought a CD but because he was exposed to the music through mp3's and wav files, And then there are more releases flowing in the scene now before the internet came out..also we have the online distribution system which helps and for people who want to buy, they will anyway... mp3 doesnt suffice for people who need quality.
Besides The downloading scene has been present for over 8 years now, artists/labels know about it, they might not support it because its their hardwork which is on free disposal. but nothing has stopped anything. and then i am sure some of..labels/artists/...download/upload anyway could be a software or a movie or a politically incorrect documentary for an example (which will never ever be released under a government...this is a separate topic altogether).
And then its about promotion. well if you promote a party well it would be to attract more people. hence for money which could just about evens out the investment now thats what we are looking at right ? psychedelic experience for a profit doesnt sound right IMO and if it is, then fuck you. Also Its got nothing to do with cops or parties being busted thats a total separate issue altogether and it sits on the general perception about this music in majority and the immaculate greed people have for news and a shaabashi. (for more money) lol

I m glad that i get to listen to music of any artist all across the globe and I love every moment of it.

atleast @ the moment internet is screwing it up , internet will finish the scene ,it has actually , isnt it visible to all of us here ? is there a reason to widespread it like virus in the first place?its just spreading to the wrong ears , the amount of boring kids @ parties these days,,,pffff , there are more ppl standing than dancing , and they are faaaaaaaar away from understanding whats going on , where is the psychadelixx gone ? especially with all that amount of blah blah and the 10 posts a day to 3000 ppl just for a flop 30 ppl party , is it a joke , widespreading it like this ? its the ppl who are truly devoted that suffer with all that politics , busts and shit comming in . yes the music is reaching the millions , but where will you listen to it , @ home ? no wonder we very rarely see pure trancers @ a party . |
