There is this way of misxing tracks and playing them, that I have heard when djs play....that I am not quite sure how it is done. I am not sure, if it is track, or if this is done by doing it a certain speed, or how it is done in any form. And now the description of what I mean...You can mix two tracks have them sound together, ok pretty easy....but then there is like a way for it to make it sound, not just tipical umpf umpf umpf, of the kick and bass, but there is way of playing it that it sounds more like a rolling bassline, that will make you dance, it is a lot heard when you dance at european festivals, when djs play some (well some of them) it is more of a rolling groove they get going, then just a kick and a bassline. Unfortunately I do not have any audio example, as I have heard this only at parties and just certain djs do it. It just sounds more I would say stronger, then the normal kick and bass of the track (which sometimes just is awesome as well). Any advice is appreciated!

Are you talking about mixing two tracks or a certain style of bassline in one track?           soundcloud.com/supergroover

It is probably the track they play and not the mixing. But without example it will be difficult to really understand what you are trying to say.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

lot of djs depend on softwares like mixed in key to detect the key scale of the track and arrange their sets accordingly so the flow sounds pretty good and also the mixing sounds neat and clean. But yes there are perfectionists in this trade as well who dont need softwares liek that to make deir sets sound neat and clean

^mixing in keys helps for sets on the fly mostly...
you can be so much perfectionist taking your time at home to make a set by ear and play it but if you do it live maybe some noisy mixes are going to happen!

my advice, go looking on youtube, find an example of what you mean.

at the very least, if you can't, that means its a dj trick and not something in the track

perhaps you mean when the dj mixes two tracks together and it gets very thick?            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

sounds like delay effect (synched to 16th or 8th of a beat) applied to Low Freq... can be done (easy enough) on any decent mixer with delay/echo effect, or through lappy...           www.venomous2.com

I think that elesdifrend talks about the way that a bassline is played in many psy trance tracks. This groove is made when the bass of a track has 3 'hits'. A few examples that can be found on youtube are: U-Recken, Ianuaria and Cosma.

after a testing a bit at home, it is the previous mentioned, and it happens when you put two basslines together, when they go together, they get this rolling groove....that by the way sounds very massive....when played right....

Do you mean the type of bassline at 3:18? The last one, with the 3 'hits'.           http://www.facebook.com/pages/Acid-Waves/210623772399578?fref=ts
