SO IM GOING TO DRIVE UP TO FRISCO TOMMORROW (29TH) AFTER WORK AT LIKE 1PM..HEAD TO THE PARTY..THEN DRIVE BACK DOWN TO LA FOR THE PSYTRIBE PARTY SATURDAY NIGHT WERE PENTA WILL ALSO BE THERE!!!

Holy shit. That was a fucking party! it was so packed that there were peeps there i was looking for but didn't even see... i heard 1350 people? 3 bars... 4 rooms... cool deco for sure. One of the side rooms (called Thumpin Pussy) was for housey kinda stuff and the dancefloor was full. There was a breaks tent outside that was full. The upstairs downtempo/othertempo room complete with bar had a bunch of freaks in it all making out... kinda full, but it had a great view of the main room below it. It was cool listening to slower weirder music and looking through the glass down on all the people flipping out to trance below. The main room was PACKED. No room to flail, only to hop around and shake your head to the music. The deco was great... a couple of flouro tapestries that were pretty original and really pretty... a huge mask thing of the shpongle face (like 10 feet tall!) that glowed really bright... and some of the coolest string art shaped around a disco ball and others hanging from the ceiling.
We got there just in time for Christine's set... Simon started at about 2:15 or so and played a good amount of unfamiliar stuff... and a couple good favorites, Gamma goblins (crazy remix!), deranger, and Mil-loonyum or however you spell it. He is so good at manipulating and tweaking and messing around with his tracks... very creative. Awesome set for sure... i was hoping to hear some of the more nuttier freaker tracks like shamanix... but i really think that the dancefloor was so packed (and hot!) that things could've gotten a little ugly if people started movin any more than they were. Around 3:30 we had to go outside because the heat was so bad and i actually started feeling a little claustrophobic. The stupid club would'nt let any drinks outside... even water that was purchased there. Kinda stupid if you ask me... it's kind of a safety issue, right? So Simon finished with Deranger and Penta came on... wow. I am just a sucker for his basslines... the sound in the main room was great as well, so everything sounded super clear and clean. Great set... i heard a lot of tracks i knew and had heard live before... come in, (i think it's called) in the night, in the dark, and a bunch of others as well. I figured that the dancefloor would clear out a bit after Simon but it only did a little bit. Shpongle started at 5 i think and simon played some slower mellower stuff and mixed that latin riff (from tales of the inexpressible) in to a bunch of it. Unfortunatley the sound was tuned poorly for this set... the bass was so loud people were dancing around covering their ears. (still a totally packed dancefoor at this point as well.) I am definetly looking forward to hearing the new shpongle album coming out soon. It's all about Shpongle and headphones.
Sorry to blather on, just wanted to give those of you who didn't go a good idea of the party. thump did a great job and i am so glad i went down for it!
