Yep, the legendary Eat Static will be visiting our shores at the Groovy Troopers & Free Range Collab on the 18 March 2006.

They will be playing a 6hrs set!!! 2 hour Live on the Main stage and 4 hours on the Viral Lounge (i'm sure they will be throwing a bit of Ozric Tentacles into the mix).

See you there!

do they play anything stomping or in line with the commercial stuff being release today? The only album that I own is implant (1994) and ive got one or two other chilled tracks floating around somewhere.

in other words, is it gonna go guns or will it be more of a mellow vibe?

(im there either way...)

I saw them at the Glade stage at Glastonbury 2004, they were pretty full-on and had everyone jumping in the mud!

Yeah, it is sure Full-on... plus the mad cap live show! You can bet that they will be keeping the floor stomping away...

Everybody that seen them live have commented on their brilliant Live Set! So no holding back, i tell you!

Eat Static will also be releasing an album with mostly Full-on stuff, later this year on Solstice Records, Japan.

So for the punters out there wondering what they'll hear... new... fresh tunes from these masters of dance!

VENUE DETAILS

The Blue Hippo farm lies nestled in the Pilaarkop mountains, outside the picturesque town of Greyton. Home to a wealth of indigenous fynbos, trees, acres of open fields, horses, and a tepee village, the farm is also home to the most a-mazing party venue since the fabled (and now off-limits) Rabbit Hole.

Although it's only a picturesque hour-and-a-half journey from Cape Town, it's far enough away to provide a total escape from any hint of the Mother's city urban sprawl and infamous smog. Comfortable, relaxed, and breathtakingly beautiful the venue offers ample snug camping space, plenty of shade trees, abundant parking, and a large damn - filled with clean river water from the mountains - for swimming and unwinding.

Make it a Long Weekend:

Remember to put in leave for the Monday after the party ( 20 March). Tuesday, 21 March, is a public holiday, so turn it into a long weekend and let rip with the comforting knowledge that there's plenty of time to recover and soak up the mad and beautiful experiences of what promises to be the party of the season!

Directions:

Only 144km from Cape Town.

From Cape Town take the N2 towards Caledon, over Sir Lowery's Pass. 110km from Cape Town turn left onto the R406 to Greyton. Drive for 30km into Greyton and look out for right-turn to Riversonderend. Follow the gravel road for 4km and look out for signs on the left.

Event Facilities:

A-mazing décor; multiple VJ screens; a shaded dance floor; a vibey chill-zone; plentiful camping; swimming opportunities; medical facilities; food-, craft- & clothing stalls; decent toilets.

The venue will be open for camping from 3pm, Friday 17 March to holders of pre-sold tickets only.

Things to Remember:

Sub-block, swimming costumes, sun-hats, tent and camping gear, gas cookers (no fires allowed), torch & spare batteries, insect repellent.

Delphi writes "Calling all thrill-seekers, spaced-out party-people, crystal-faeries and the plain curious:

The aliens will be making a landing near Greyton on the evening of 18 March!

What's the deal, you may ask? Well, Eat Static will be in the vicinity and, if reports are to be believed then friendly critters from outer-space are regular attendees at their gigs! So, appropriately, the gig's called 'Contact' ... and you can bet your bottom dollar that there'll be plenty of alien activity doing the rounds!

It's no surprise that slinky goggle-eyed extraterrestrials have a fondness for Eat Static! Their trademarks are rhythms that take minds and feet into other dimensions ... Their live-sets are set on maximum warp-drive and their gig on 18 March will be no different! They've promised a hypnotically pounding set, filled with alien frequencies, irrisissible beats and wormholes into other dimensions. So prepare to be abducted ... by their sound!

This is their first visit to South Africa, so they're as excited to witness the SA trance scene in action as we are to see these legends performing live! And what a performance it will be! Even if you don't spot a saucer in the sky or get asked for a light by an ET, then you're still in for a treat: With a new album about to be released and a side project with Simon Postford (Metal Sharon) in the worx, Eat Static's live set will be full of brand new ground-breaking material that's never been heard on South African shores."
