*Green Nuns Of The Revolution* were 3 dudes, Richard Trevor, Matt Coldrick & Neil Cowley, who made some serious psychedelic stuff. Started in 1995 and are famous for their acid-drenched psytrance. Their last E.P. was Green Nunions in 1998. Since 1999 there has been no new material so far (which is a pity!!).

G.N.O.T.R - Rock Bitch Mafia 1997

(dedicated to Mother Theresa)
Flying Rhino Records
--------------------
(was established in August 1994 initially as a collaboration between Zoom Records and three young electronic DJ's and producers: James Monro, Dominic Lamb and George Barker. After a year with Zoom and four releases. Flying Rhino became an independent limited company handling all of its own manufacturing, distribution and promotion.
Flying Rhino specialises in electronic techno, goa-style trance.
THIS LABEL IS NOW DEFUNCT !!!(which probably sucks even more )

..anyways, here's a great cd with lots of good moments and we shall pay these dudes some well deserved homage.

1.Cor (unreleased edit)

Starts out quite ferociously, a 'i-aint-got-time-to-show-you-the-ropes' track. Quite intense for an opener. Sure enuf they start out to move over into a spirally mode with more layers added and drop in a nice sharp melody, which is suprisingly fresh after all these years. A few guitar riffs are apparent, but they do not own the track, instead are made to work with the other psychedelic elements. With a nice mix of these riffs, that sharp mysterious melody and rippin tweakin the track is quite an intense opener.

2. Thunder Thighs.

A very tribal oriented track, this track has a lotta emotion in it. Not a typical full on track, this is acidic psytrance to the core. Loopin swirls in and out, a gentle bpm, but still the track feels massive. Ends quite deliciously with a fantastic assortment of many melodies and beat breakers. This wud be so perfect in the morning!!!!

3. Conflict.

I just cannot get enuf of the melodies these guys put out. This track is melody galore, but its certainly not cheesy melodies. I know i wud be dancin to this track anytime. Very wrenching music, with groovy beats and great build ups.

4. Octofunk.

Head shakin synths and gliding music introduce us to Octofunk. There's a massive buildup in between which they utilize to create a cosmic plane in which u seem to be hurtling through. The customary acidic twinges and rockets blastin through ur body is impressive.

5. Ring of Fire

This track is quite reliable through the first few moments. When it gets to the 3 minute onwards, prepare yourself!. A whole deal of psychedelia is goin to bring u to your knees. A rising wave of tweaking will make u wish u had wings, which u probably will after this one anyways. Fcukn non -stop series of psytrance pounding through.

6. Klunk

These guys are in their element right about now, and their itching to give you a taste. This is the meaning of acidic psytrance. No way you can be seated when u hear this track. It has a craaaaazy pause in the middle, with these monkey-like voice
I almost fell outta my chair the first time i heard it.

7. Rock Bitch

Nice intro with some rockin drums and guitar. Nothing too explosive till the end of the first minute. Then we get into this shit like no tomorrow. This track has it all, melodies, guitars, drums, samples, break downs, build ups, acidic spirals, how can u not like it!

8. Atomic Armadillo (The fluffening)

Shit, obviously these guys didnt get the memo about the last 'chilled' track. This is a dangerous track to play to a packed house. Starts out with a pounding bpm and plenty of acidic moments and psychedelia scatters all over the place. But wait! This track is 14 mins long!!!!!!!!!!! yes!
So around the 7 minute, it gets down into a smooth tripy, chilled phase. This is the right time to bust out the chillums and slap each other on the back.

.. all in all, good fcukn album, quite intense and groovy. I really enjoyed it the first time i heard it and it still sounds fresh after all these years. Get ur copy from some where or the other, coz its mandatory.

I remember buying this album in 1998. My album jacket says it was released in 1997. Where did you get 2001?

Dick (Dickster) Trevoris obviously still at it. The other two I don't know about.

Nice review by the way. This was a mother of a release back then and quite a collectible now.           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)

One of the greatest Psy trance albums made, this album is very close to my heart and has given me many many journeys, the whole album is a journey through psy realms.
They have a video for the song Rock Bitch, with the three boys rocking in it.
Thank you greennuns for showing me the way.

The sample is not a monkey. It´s Muttley from Dastardly & Muttley, the old cartoonshow...

Otherwise this is a must buy indeed (if you can still obtain it, do so)           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

ello ello

btw this album came out WAY before 2001, more like 96 or 97. I had this album in 97 it was this, SLide - Unstable, Hallucinogen - Twisted, and Total Eclipse - Delta Aquarids that got me into the scene.

Its still one of the best albums ever.. sounds so bizarre listening to it now... f**king killargh if there ever was one.

such a shame they went their separate ways. This is an absolute must have for any trance collector. its plastic history. .

One of the most important Psytrance-release ever, and personaly a beloved classic. THIS was the album that got me hooked to the genre. Probably still the best psy-album I have. The only record I have on my iPod, from that era.

Gave a fortune for it a couple of years ago to have it on vinyl. I got the original CD from 1997, and I believe it got re-released, since I saw another version of the CD with a slightly different cover.

Every true trancer should have this in their collection. Absolute classic.
