I think Ableton users will be used with this gadget.

What do you think about it? I am ableton live user (still starting) but this one looks tasty.

This is the sexiest thing I've ever saw, but I bet the price will be way off what I can afford.

This looks really nice. Hoping for a nice bundle-price with the new Ableton Live 8!           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

The actual price is IMO already a very nice deal (even it would be even better to have a bundle with Live! 8, this I'd most assurely get)

so, a couple of years have passed...
any feedback on this piece of equipment?
i've tested one shortly at a shop but would very much like to hear some pro/con especially from those who use the apc 40 as a main controller.           "no one ever sweats on a plug-in" -moby

I love my APC. A lot.

However, depending on what you use it for the default layout leaves a lot to be desired.

For example, if you are using it as a DJing controller the default template doesn't allow you to have low/mid/high EQs of two tracks open at the same time.

However, there is a large APC community and plenty of templates out there that address these issues. If you have MaxforLive you can change pretty much anything.

Build quality is really nice, very sturdy and all the knobs/faders feel great. The triggering buttons have a very responsive feel to them. The bi-directional feedback between APC and Ableton is awesome - not ever having to MIDI map anything EVER is very, very freeing.

As for giging, I use mine as my main controller/mixer - I really like not having to worry about whatever mixer the venue has. Just give me an open channel and enough space for the APC

Pretty much super awesome, especially considering you can get them off ebay for ~$260 these days.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
