Yes, they make wonderful music. Ragas and other mystical indian stuff over contemporary beats. I've had their debut album for a year now and it still keeps on growing on me. More uptempo chillout, lots of drum 'n' bass - like stuff, but very good balance of everything.
Their remix for Son Kite is among the best chillout tunes ever made, instant classic.

Check out their beutiful website..

And if you like them check out also Karsh Kale, the other big favourite of mine. They've also made co-operation together.

Totally agree with soma. The Punditz' self titled debut has some really moving melodies. And Karsh Kale, he's *the* man! Have both CD's, realize and liberation, though Liberation certainly is the better of the two.

Another pioneer artist on similar lines is Talvin Singh. His albums are must haves for any Asian breakbeat fan, though his compilations suck to say the least!           Don't Worry, Stay Trippy!

So did they only release one full album? anybody has more info on them? (their discography section in the official website is a bit hard to understand if they have more full cd's or upcoming)

The Punditz have released only one full studio album to date, though they have a coupla songs out on some compilations like Chandni Chowk on Asian Massive and Aaja Re on Asian Vibes.

Recently they were musicians for a Bollywood film called "Let's Enjoy." The only track I'd recommend off that soundtrack would be "Kesariya Baalam". Check their song out on raaga.com

Peace out ..           Don't Worry, Stay Trippy!

The new MP album is almost done. Expect it out on March. It'll be a mix of break bit and chillout, and the tracks I've heard promise a lot.

As for the Let's Enjoy soundtrack. It has quite a few cool tunes, especially considering the fact it's a bollywood soundtrack. There are a couple of bad songs, but they were not made by MP and were included in the soundtrack without their knowledge.

They have some nice collaborations there- I like the ones with Jayant & Papon.

There are also quite a few PunditZ tracks spread around the Six Degrees different compilations.

Love the Punditz - the album is really good. One or two tracks are outstanding.

The soundtrack is a bit patchy - one or two pieces show the Punditz flair like Kesariya Baalam.

By the way Anak ... the link you gave doesn't work for me am I doing something wrong or is the link faulty?

Cheers

Anak, as far as I know, the track on Monsoon Wedding is Fabric and it is also on their debut CD (Track 3). And the link didnt work for me either

Paul, the reason for the soundtrack being patchy is that they also have a few other musicians working along on some tracks. For me the only stanndout track was Kesariya Baalam. Chandni Raat is also worth a listen.           Don't Worry, Stay Trippy!
