I am a big lover of all electronic music and the psytrance scene endears itself to me greatly but I feel kind of sad that today's parties seem to have forgotten the source of it all.

Goa Trance.

My favorite psychedelic music was made back before the word "psytrance" existed. It is and has always been amazing music to listen to no matter what drug (if any) you are currently on.

If you're unfortunate enough not to have listened to any of this wonderful music that took the 90s by storm, let me suggest some tracks to listen to:

1. Hallucinogen - LSD
I would go so far as to say that this track DEFINES Goa trance. I would be surprised if anyone out there has not heard this track but if you have not, go. Go listen right now. Do it.

2. The Infinity Project - Stimuli
Starts out with a driving beat and then BAM, that hard psychedelic synth comes out of nowhere and blasts your mind before working its way into a fat groove that echoes all around your head. This might be my favorite track ever. You can find it in the second part of Paul Oakenfold's 1994 essential mix or on TIP's first CD Feeling Weird. There's also a Perfecto vinyl release that you can buy second-hand rather cheap.

3. Disco Volante - Moonraker (Man With No Name remix)
MWNN's most well-known track, this one just straight-up bangs you around. The vinyl isn't too hard to find but the only other release it's on is a 1995 comp called "Goa Trance" from Rumour.

4. Astral Projection - People Can Fly
A massive first hit from one of the first Israeli artists. Can be found on their first CD "Trust In Trance" and I believe you can buy the track on beatport.

5. Juno Reactor - Samurai
Yes, THAT Juno Reactor. When I searched for a Juno Reactor track to post here, I gave this one a listen and thought "Nah, sounds too new, must be from at least 2000". This track was released way back in *1993*. Given the exceptional production back then, it's no surprise that this group went on to produce the soundtracks for all three Matrix films.

If you want to collect this music for listening, you can start with Paul Oakenfold's 1994 Essential Mix, Radio One's most requested rebroadcast ever. The two-part, two hour mix revolutionized DJing, incorporating not only Goa tracks and goa-inspired trance and house, but also occasionally dabbling in chill ambient and showcasing several moments from Vangelis' legendary Blade Runner soundtrack.

From there, I'm not a complete expert but you couldn't go wrong buying anything by Hallucinogen, Juno Reactor, Astral Projection, The Infinity Project or Man With No Name. Grab all of their first albums for sure.

I myself haven't had a chance to search around too much, so if anyone could point out a lesser-known artist or two, I would appreciate greatly

I really like juno reactor. BUT... (omg im gonna sound like a fucking geek)

They never made the music for Matrix one

They made only additional work with Don Davis, except for 1 track "tea house" which features on Matrix Reloaded

Otherwise there where 2 tracks on matrix reloaded and 3 on matrix revolution, which Don Davis and Juno Reactor made.

I reckon they fucking rock though...

Forgotten ? Many parties in Belgium now have old school goa trance area also..

Also the first night of "Spiritual Healing" (July, Germany 08), was only old school sound..

So its really not forgotten, its coming again for sure.. But its not on all big parties thats for sure..

Nobody said RA! =( I love his music!
Filteria <3 (kind of unorthodox Goa, but still melodic and nice)

Damn, there is so much to write!
Wait for an update!
