Anybody knows a good cheap place on the beach in Palolem? I'm going to be there from 25 dec - 8 Jan. Phone numbers would be very handy. I searched for it on the forum but didn't get anything.

well havent heard anythin bout astral, but i do know that infected are in delhi and mumbai around the 26th jan. |

hello folks, just back from 3 weeks in Goa. Here's a little update:
Hilltop shut for good (school problems). NIne Bar shut. Primrose not happening. Saturday night Flea Market (also known as Hingo's market) moved to Morjim, (he got into rough weather with locals by surpassing them and paying directly to cops and politicians), but there too big problems as locals are taking out morchas every saturday in protest, saying it spoils Goan culture. Roy's Dolce Vita also not happening (he was supposed to open an underground club but that hasn't happened yet). Everyone, from taxis to shops to restaurants are crying no business no business.
The root of the problem, according to many, is Cong MLA Wilfred Dsouza who has told north-belt locals, "why u need special concessions (ie, all night-day loud parties) when no one else in Goa asks for them?"
Curlie's is happening and some other small places. Paradisco as usual rules, but that place u cant go often...Morjim might emerge as a new centre, with fleamarket and stuff moving there, but the Shiva Sati parties have aslo got canned, as early as 12...locals just dont favour the scene there...anyway, its too early to tell
some say things will pick up after 15th...so lets hope for best
