Hi,
I don't know if there are other topics of this kind, sorry...
I'm new to the whole genre, and would like to find some of the best artists/albums in Goa, who have a very otherworldly, psychedelic, hypnotic, transcendental sound...I hope you understand what I mean.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be very appreciated!
Thanks!

Nice one suomi guy, almost all of those my favs also. As many other`s too i assume

Did a "essential goa-vinyl-update-session" a few years ago, diminishing 80 albums to 35 trying to keep only the best and still rocking sound, have to do it soon to the remaining 35

Suomi Guy knows what he is talking about.

Some other artists to consider (and mostly what these guys were making between 1994-2002): Etnica, Nick Doof, Tristan, Electric Universe, Spacetribe, Technossomy, cydonia, Orichalcum.

Yep, great lists by Suomi Guy, but for a fairly new person to this genre - and don't get me wrong here - perhaps also a bit too extensive. Not to forget that a lot of those albums and compilations are very hard to find today.

I personally suggest starting out by looking for some of the old "hit" compilation-series from that time like "Destination Goa", "Goa Head", "Pulse" and "Distance To Goa". They mostly came on 2 CD's with nice value for the money, and were released in many mainstream shops as well, so they're generally not as impossible to pick up nowadays as the more scene-oriented releases. If you do find something you like on these compilations (and trust me, you will) then it's time to dig deeper

Good luck.          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Indeed lots of those releases are very hard to find these days, though things like Hallucinogen which are classics you can find even nowdays in shops and there are also internet sites like discogs.com that ppl sale their second hand cds in a fair price and you can find there some rare stuff. Plus there is the remastering of old releases by Avatar Records like the Sandman, Prana, GMS etc. which makes it easyer to find on the shop (some even with extra bonus tracks that wasn't on the old release).
But myself personally as a goa collector, i don't like the "hit" compilations series, and not cause they are not good, they are very good, but almost on every album there i got already most of the tracks on the releases by the home label of the artists which Distance to Goa, Goa-Head etc. licence it from. But again for a newbie collector they can be perfect cds to have with lots of goods.

Lol Astral699 what's that bullshit. Every trance made untill Y2K is goa trance (apart from a few exeptions like x-dream radio), Aspecially Hallucinogen, Prana, Cosmosis and Green Nuns, PURE goa music.
And that astral, asia 2001, mfg, talamasca and oforia are more like Arabic Trance than Goa.           "My single one to cross the ways that have heart, any way that has heart. Hahaha you're funny suomi. Wtf are you talking about ?
MFG or Oforia is arabic trance? And Metalica is hip hop music, right ?

This would explain a lot
rotfl

Ehhh...you must know goatrance is one thing and psychedelic trance is another. Those genres are prety similar and often messed up. They are so similar that pplz often say goapsytrance goa psychedelic trance and so on...But it's quiete general statement.

Psychedelic Trance is the general genre that all goa, full on, dark, suomi applys to. not that i think that full on and dark are psychedelic music but unfortanatly it goes in that genre. almost everything you wrote under the psychedelic suggestions are pure goa, exept maybe the x-dream and the etnica.
And yes most of MFG and Oforia's stuff have very arabic melodies, and i'm not saying that to insult you, it's just sounds like it. (most of the israely goa is like that, that's why i don't like it)
