Memorial Weekend Meltdown with Goa Gil & Ariane
May 27, 2006
A Northern California Forest (Directions on website)
Join us for the traditional Memorial Meltdown as we once again Redefine the Ancient Tribal Ritual for the 21st Century. We begin at sunset with Tribal drumming, followed by an ethno tribal mix from Ariane. The ritual continues through the night and into the day with a Dj set from Goa Gil.
Some Guidelines and Tips to help make the weekend as great as possible:
- Please bring everything you need to survive for the weekend, including food and water.
- Be prepared for all types of weather, from low nighttime temperatures to high heat during the day.
- Bring a flashlight, it's a new moon and it will be dark!
- This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event! Please pack out what you pack in, take all of your trash and recycling with you! When you pack your vehicle please save room to take a bag of trash home with you!
- Please carpool & drive responsibly!! Parking is limited and many people need rides, so please carpool & park in designated areas only. To offer or request a ride please visit: http://doofdoofdoof.tribe.net
- No campfires allowed! No campfires allowed! No campfires allowed! Please bring a stove if you wish to cook food 
- Come with an open mind and heart; leave your negative attitudes at home, and treat each other and the land with respect!

oooohh...i'm starting to get butterflies in my belly...confirmation printed, car cleaned, gas tank filled, thomas guide out, necessary  items purchased, outfits being planned, cd's stolen from the hubby...yes, everything is in order!!! now comes the hardest part--the friday workday. then it's smooth sailing to a magical gathering filled with elves and trolls and those furry dwarves with special undercover mushroom-hat disguises. off to go prance around in the forest and engage in mystical undefinable rituals, in which the method is dance and the outcome is whatever it needs to be. all of this only a workday and a hella long drive ahead of me.

Been going to psy trance gatherings for 2 or 3 years now and I can say that this one (my first Goa Gil experience) was by far the best I've been to. Music was incredible, energy was unrelentingly high, the vibe was one of complete happiness and bliss, the people were awesome, and the location was one of the most beautiful spots I've ever seen. I'd go as far as to say that all other parties should be held to the standard of this one... I definitely felt like this was the "mainframe" feeding the rest of the psy trance community for the season.
Thanks to all the people who helped throw this, you owe yourselves a big pat on the back, and of course thanks to Gil for playing a relentlessly dark and twisted 24 hour DJ set. Can't wait to do it all again in October.

Wow. It's really hard to put into words such a profound experience. I've helped with the Goa Gil parties in the past, but this was the first time that I was the main organizer of the event. So I experienced it from two levels, one as an organizer and two as a participant. Before we began the setup, I chose a Goddess card from the oracle deck... i got Oonagh, the Irish Mother. The title on the card read "Easy Does It" and on the bottom: "There is no need to hurry or force things to happen. Everything is occurring on perfect timing.” This philosophy seemed to stick with me as we went through the setup. We knew what we had to do and when it had to be done, but there was never a stressed, rushed feeling to it. It was a great reminder to remain in the NOW. It was so awesome working with so many wonderful people putting this event together. There was virtually no drama involved with the organization, everything went incredibley smooth. I was prepared to meet challenges as they happened, but really there was nothing TOO challenging about it. No major disasters, mishaps, etc...
I have said it many times before and i'll say it again; the Goa Gil parties here are not only my favorite party, but my favorite thing to do. like ever. I can't think of anything that makes me happier. There really are no words to describe the experience except : majikal. The nitetime is so intense and a bit scary, the hour before sunrise seems to be the ego deconstruktion hour, and then you are left in this incredibley free, synchronistic space, that is bursting with pure bliss; and what's better yet, is that you remain in that safe psychedelic space all day long!! I made so many connections with people over the weekend, both new friends and old. After such a long winter, everything lined up again it seems. Things felt right again... dialed in, synched up whatever you want to call it things make sense! My mind and heart connecting with other minds and hearts. And my body completely in line with the music, sliding through that thick bass and vibrating right along with those high bpm tracks..... yeeeeeee hawwwwww and fuck yeah!!!!!!!!
Also, I have a flashlight thing that says "Kai" on it and a pink, curved glass earring that was found near the dance floor.
THANK YOU ALL SOOOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE!

Thanks for putting on the event. It was definitely a smooth gig... no hassle with parking or anything. I loved reading your description of the transition into dawn. I haven't really integrated enough of my experience to do Goa Gil, Arianne, or the party people justice with words.
