99 hours on a bus....... or my halloween in san carlos
atlanta to san carlos and back.
i listened to every cd I could burn
read two books
sat next to one tweaked like mad cowboy
had a surprising talk about synthesizers with a thugish kid from longview texas who makes some pretty good downtempo/hiphoppish beats with a korg workstation... made him listen to some good twisted psy "could really get into the zone with this" he says 
met my good friend in el paso...
so they switched drivers at the border and we got left while getting our visas, a quick cab ride to the bus station and luckily we cought the bus... wonder what would have happened to the bags if we didnt??
met a nice retired lady from pheonix who made her european husband give us a ride from guaymas to one of the local hotels in san carlos.... told us to come visit the boat in the harbour if we got into trouble.. cool people
got up saturday morning and went over to the resort (paradisio, an old club med, pretty nice place) to try and figure out what was going on... they totally let us check in early, 10am (the sign said 4pm)
immediatly met some kids from tijuana, KICK ASS group (www.5thelement.com.mx .... its not working right now but.... http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/73351/forum/28), they are all into the dark & twisted sound.... it was good talking about the differences between not only cultures but psy cultures as well.... they are just now starting to get 24hour parties... much less 3day fests that are so common here in the states.... it was awesome running into psy kids who are the same as the ones I know at home... just with a little language difference
scoped out the party site... on the tip of a penensula, beach pretty much on 3 sides.... with 3 islands coming off the tip, you could walk through water to them and explore... apparently pelicans don't mind psy, because they never left
12 subs, 6cabs... dunno much more than that.... it sounded great... the dancefloor was bordered by tim burton ish lamp posts 15ft tall... looked good.. video screens on both sides (the video never happened though... not sure what happened with that one)
last year there were 500 people, and I was told by some attendes last year said the dancefloor was never very crowded at all.... so this is what I was expecting for the evening to come....
I was told after that there were 1300 people there that night.... mass insanity! total and utter chaos!
there was alot more alcohol comsumption than I was used to, a few kids drunk to the point of not being able to stand...
shitloads of people who had no idea what psy was, much less who gil is, however I never got a bad vibe all night, and no one was violent/bad/harsh or anything other than nice all night (at least that I know of.... I spent most of my time on the dancefloor and the party area was pretty big), it might have helped that I was partying with a 5.5ft tall bunny...
the dancefloor was packed enough to be comparable with alot of rock shows I attend... big contrast from the open spaces of hoopers and twirlers and spinners and spastic acid dancers that im used to
some crazy poi that would totally never happen at a large party back here, breaks out right in the middle of the crowd, scattering people, and then invites people to play back.... was a damn good guy tho, never saw anyone get knicked (amazing considering how close everyone/thing was)
a few sound problems, I think the it went out (15-45secs) two or three times due to technical glitches during the night (saw lots of confuuuuuused people on those) and one due to a policia misunderstanding in the morning (but he got another hour in after that ) and went untill 11
holy shit the trash!!!!!!!!! there were no trash cans, and what I asked, they said people wouldnt use them even if they did, everything was just thrown on the sand...... they hired ladies to pick up all the trash the next morning... while people were dancing around them....
got to meet the mistress of evil crew, awesome gals... listen to their stuff! they rock!
nice chill day of relaxing on the beach and getting to know people better. met alex the promoter, awesome guy, really nice... he does a group act as Audiopathik and another as Plankton... is getting things going in a great direction down there.
so my friend starts getting sick sunday night, isnt better by morning... don't know if its the water of meat he ate... so we decide to haul ass and see if we cant get to town for medicine and back to the states.... either that or stay there for longer..... we get to a pharmacy in guaymas, have a pretty choppy but effective (because of rather hilarius hand gestures) dialogue about symptoms and get two options, pills that he might throw up, or a shot in the ass...... "tiene miedo" she says as she comes walking from the back room as he follows pulling up his pants..... $7 for the shot, a huge bottle of pedialyte, and a suppliment pack for the pedia... was physically fine for the whole way back.. pretty amazing how effective their healthcare system works...
so they didnt even ask me for my visa as I return home, got pulled through us immigration because I didnt have a drivers license (i was using a passport)... she tells me people who dont have drivers licenses are usually in trouble..
so what did I learn from this trip?
apparently they keep all the good pot for themselves and ship the shit over the border (if you live anywhere near tx you know what i mean), everyone was surprised
ajo and fritos are fun words to know.
we are everywhere! and are slowly starting to get more and more connected.
music is good
gil, per usually rocked! and was awesome with the crowd.
can't wait untill next year.

this is definitely the best party i have been to in Mexico... Alex(Acidize) is a top notch promoter/person with alot of great intentions and his head firmly in the right place. Mexico is in very good hands with this crew. Plus, they are making some really badass music with Audiopathik/Plankton... Just watch out for V/A Desert Encounters from Mass Abduction Records, you'll see what I mean! Can't wait to hear more from these guys and really great to see so many people and such a successful party for a good crew. Looking very forward to working in the future with you guys to spread the sound plague!
