If he payed to djing and got out after 2-3 track, he wasn't a dj or his tracks just weren't good enough! He was the wrong guy in the wrong place!

Have a good time all the time!

So u think is free to organize a party in Goa? When the spun crew have there partys in Goa you think it doesnt cost them anything? Well, then your wrong!
Hilltop is paid by the owner, but all the other so called free partys cost money. Anything up to a 1000 dollars. Wich is being paid for by the organizers( djs).
And of course if your well connected you can always slip in and play.
But if your not, you can put on your own party, with a bit of luck. And you can play and your paying for it.
By the way.. if you play at 9 bar you get paid...- two beers...!

yes goa holds all these stories happening every now and then.......so many artist with their gear all around the place, trying to crack a deal somewhere somehow......everyone want to play,in similar circumstances quite a few end up paying and hooking up a gig for themselves.

well, its a difficult industry. you might (would have to
) have to work for years to get famous & get invited to the best parties...if $100 could get somebody famous, it might sound pragmatic & worth it for all the guys who pay to play

I'd say it has to do with the reasons that you actually play music for. Imo someone who does such things does this for the wrong ones, i.e. fame and money only and the love of the music goes dancing alone in the wood. Got to go and meet her...

paying to play does sound rather lame...but in case a DJ really wants to play he sure can cough up the cash for organising the whole gig and then playin on his own...this way hes not directly paying to play is he...

rite?

no I dont think paying to play can ever make sense... there are many people who would like to be DJs, and many people who actually have the skills, and the music... but you need more than that, you need the drive and passion, and you need to be good at what you do.... if you really want to be a dj, you will become one, if you need to pay $100 to play, it means you havnt tried hard enough, or that its not working the way it should, and that you have to pay yourself into that position.... play to play, dont pay to play.           www.facebook.com/DjJanux
