you have to learn how to manage your resources wisely it will only do you good.
don't be lazy. You still can save all the mess in midi an keep the fx channel just mute it and turn it off or smart disable it.
Try it its a skill by itself. At first you will be very affraid and lazy. But just fuckin go for it and your problem is solved.

try reaper as a host, it's free. load up your vst's and test them. Reaper gives you a cpu meter that breaks down the utilization of your cpu down to the single vst.
maybe this way you can isolate the plugin(s) that give you this headacke.

Very good tip, thank you very much! |

copy the project then remove in there the plugsin one by one to see if big improvements happen in lowering cpu load. probably one or two pluggies are bad. tell us which ones after you finished. same problem might happen with a new computer if you have bad plugs running. always keep an eye on the cpu load when adding a vst or plugin. bounce to midi, keep the midi in a folder. |

I had your same problem with a vaio 2.4 ghz core duo, i changed to an i5 quad core desktop and i can be more lazy than ever with 70 tracks open, shitloads of plugins and the cpu meter never goes up more than 38 %, and this is also thanks to windows 7
The glitch vst is cpu hungry and so is effectrix, i never managed to open more than 2 effectrix's instances in live without driving the cpu crazy!

If everyone else encounter similare problem, i now tested both glitch and effectrix, and these 2 plugins were my problem.
They are super high drainers on cpu power!.
As you all know(which some of you probably knew) |
