Some days ago I tried Waves Codex and this Melda synth.
I was very disappointed from them.
Yesterday I gave Serum a chance and I was suprised quite heavy !
Serum is AMAZING.
It starts with small features like AHDSR envelope, adjustable Portamento Curve and 18dB LP Filter (Like used in the 303) yah!
So my first attempt was to find the INIT button and created a one cycle SAW waveform of my JD800. Very nice JD800 Saw + 18 db Filter and customisable portamento curve. lovely.

I need to try both. some people say codex is slightly inferior.
but I think I'll prefer codex. one page synth, lighter on cpu. less modulation slots, but so what.. I wouldn't use them all anyway.
do you need to freeze channels with serum? in reddit, duda recommended to lower the number of voices.
there are already some wavetable packs flying around in the web. and some custom wavetables made by users. good for dubstep basses and stuff. |

I've Tested it : it gives mad amounts of low end. You get me ?
Seriously it's a great vsti, i've dialed in a nice sounding bass patch in no time. Enveloppes are very precise. I have to spend more time to discover it. The starting price is very tempting ...

I've got win7, i7 - 2600, 8gb ram and a TON of vst's and vsti's including some omnisphere and some heavy on memory (all running) and it still runs smoothly...
btw: after digging deeper into it: I wouldn't be surprised if Serum would initiate or facilitate some new electronic 'genre'. The precise madness-level on this one is very high
